Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers,

Easter Parade and Raffle

Thank you to everyone who has donated goodies for our Easter raffle. Donations will be gratefully accepted up until next Wednesday, 6 April. There is a box in the office waiting room for collection.

The raffle will be drawn during our Easter Parade which will be held on Thursday 7 April commencing at 2.10pm.

Parents and friends are welcome to attend.

Parent Teacher Interviews

Thank you to everyone who took the opportunity to meet with their child’s teacher this week. If you were unable to find a suitable time to meet, please make contact with your child’s teacher to organise a meeting.

Royal Far West Visit

We are very excited to be welcoming back our friendly clinicians from Royal Far West (RFW) from Monday 28 March to Friday 1 April, delivering a range of supports as part of the Bushfire Recovery Program. The visit includes the ‘Seasons for Growth’ children’s group, Occupational Therapy (OT) screening and Professional Learning for our teaching staff. The RFW Clinicians are also available for parents/carers appointments as required.

As part of professional learning for teaching staff, the OTs are spending time in each class to gain an understanding of how each classroom runs and provide advice to teachers on supporting learners’ regulation and attention in the classroom.

Thank you for all your help Jess, Cara and Billie!

Voluntary Contributions

Each year, parents are invited to make a small contribution towards the many resources and programs students have access to at school. The cost of our voluntary contributions remain unchanged at $35 per student or $60 per family. Payment can be made online using the ‘Make a Payment’ tab on the schools website or money can be sent in an envelope and placed in the money collection box located in the office waiting room.

School Support Dog

Our school is considering the option of engaging the services of a school support dog in line with strict Department of Education guidelines. School support dogs are used by some of our neighbouring primary schools to help improve the social and emotional wellbeing of students.

If you would like to discuss the possibility of our school going down this route or would like to share any concerns, please don't hesitate to make contact with me.

Have a great week,

Rod White

Principal

Years 4 & 6 Check-in Assessments

All students involved are to be congratulated on their outstanding efforts and growth in the area of sitting formal assessments.

YEAR 6 SHIRTS

Year 6 School Shirts

As you may have already noticed, Year 6 students are currently sporting their trendy 'Class of 2022' shirts to celebrate their final year at Tomerong Public School.

A big thank you to everyone involved in our recent Hot Dog Day fundraiser, students for their design of the shirts and parents/carers for their support of our Year 6 students (who claim to be... 'The best of the bunch!')

Student Representative Council Fundraiser

The SRC are very excited to announce their final fundraiser for Term 1. On Friday 8 April, the last day of Term 1, we are holding a mufti, slushy and popcorn day!

We are fundraising for the Northern Rivers Flood Appeal and all proceeds will go to help support people in Lismore and surrounding areas who have been affected by the recent floods. Please bring $5 on the day.

A huge thank you to Atomic Jukebox Hire for donating their slushy machine for the day!

We look forward to a fun day to end a great term!

SPORT SHORTS

School Cross Country Postponed

Due to the recent amount of rain we have received this week, this Friday’s Cross Country Carnival has been postponed. The Willandra course is currently closed and won’t be open for at least another week.

The school cross country will now be held at Willandra on Thursday 28 April (Week 1, Term 2). The current permission note gave permission for the back-up date as well, so there is no need to send home another note. For some classes, this will mean that their Life Education visit will be rescheduled. Let’s hope we get a decent amount of sunshine over the holidays.

Mr Munn

Leisure Sports

Students and staff are hoping for some sunny weather this Friday to allow Leisure Sports to proceed. The school will provide a Skoolbag app update on Friday morning to advise if weather conditions will allow the sports excursions to go ahead. Let's cross our fingers for some clear skies!

Mr Newton

Junior Gala Day

The Junior AFL Gala Day (Years 3 & 4) will be held next Tuesday 5 April (Week 11) at Vincentia Leisure Centre Oval. Please return your permission note and payment by Friday 1 April.
