Positive Behaviour for Learning
Our school is a positive behaviour for learning school. This means that we teach the desired behaviour and reinforce this regularly. For example rather than teaching ‘do not run on the concrete’ we teach ‘walk on the concrete’. Our teaching of behaviour expectations at school focuses on being safe, respectful learners. In all situations we will ask students to reflect on whether an action is safe, respectful and if they are being a good learner. These values underpin our rewards system. Students will regularly receive a PBL token which goes into a raffle both at a class level and whole school level. Students also receive merit awards. These merit awards can be given for safety, respect, learning and attendance. When your child receives an award their name will also be published in the newsletter. For every 3 merit awards received students achieve bronze, silver, gold and platinum awards.
Inclusive, Engaging and Respectful Schools - Restrictive Practices Policy
The Restrictive Practices Policy is part of the Inclusive, Engaging and Respectful schools policy package and builds on schools work in improving student behaviour and inclusive education for students with disability to meet the learning needs of all students.
From Term 1 2023, schools will begin the staged implementation of the new Restrictive Practices Policy, procedures and framework. The policy brings consistent practice and clear guidance across NSW public schools on the use of restrictive practices.
If your child needs a restrictive practice to keep them healthy and safe at school, school staff will work together with you and your child to understand their needs and plan how the school will meet those needs.
Learn more about the policy by visiting the department website and please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss this further.
Attendance
Regular school attendance is important for all students and it has been pleasing to see such a positive start with student attendance this year. If your child is absent from school you will receive an SMS notification in the morning. You can simply reply to this SMS to explain your child’s absence. All absences must be explained within 7 days of the absence or they will be recorded as unjustified. If you are unable to respond to the SMS you can also send a note to the teacher or phone the school office to explain an absence. We are committed to working with you to support your child’s attendance at school. Regular attendance supports students academically and socially. If you would like to discuss your child’s attendance please let me know.
Uniform
All students are looking fantastic in their school uniform. Thank you to all families for supporting us in ensuring students are wearing their uniform each day. It is greatly appreciated. The uniform shop is open each Wednesday morning from 8.30 - 10.00 am. If you require uniforms at other times during the week you can order and pay for uniforms on our ‘Uniform Shop Order Form’ which is found on our website or at the front office. Uniform orders must be into our front office by 10.00 am to receive them the same day.
NAPLAN 2023
