A message from our Principal

Bluey’s Rewards Day

This Thursday will be our Bluey’s Rewards Day. Students who have done a great job throughout the term will again have the opportunity to be rewarded for their efforts by trading their Blueys for special activities and privileges.

WWSPS Talk like a Pirate Day

On Monday this week we had ‘Talk like a Pirate Day’! Lots of fun was had by all dressing up as pirates and supporting cancer research for children. As a school we raised more than $700. A big thank you to all the students and teachers for dressing up and getting into the spirit of the day. Thanks to Mrs Moy for the organisation of the event.

New Wall Wrap

This week are having the School Mall entry of our school rejuvenated with a spectacular ‘wall wrap’ depicting our local school community. The design significantly dresses up the space and makes the main entry to our school a real eye opener! The project is also being filmed as part of a promotional project which includes footage of our other recent wall wrap project in the library. Thanks to Mrs Formston for all her work in getting these projects planned and delivered.

Tell Them From Me Survey

As mentioned in recent newsletters, The Tell Them From Me survey for parents, students and teachers has opened for 2020. We currently have 151 parent responses which is awesome! The goal this year is to beat our 2019 record of 205 responses. C’mon mums and dads, we’re on track and nearly there! The survey closes on 25 October.

We really value the contributions that our parents make to our school and would like to invite all parents to complete the Tell them from Me Parent Survey by following the link on:

http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/wwsps20

As in previous years we will be running a competition for the K-2 and 3-6 classes with the highest percentage of parent responses. Your help with this is much appreciated. If you complete the survey, please return the slip at the bottom of the form to your child’s classroom teacher.

Kindergarten 2021

Our Kindergarten ‘Ready for School’ program is currently on hold, awaiting further information from the government around the lifting of restrictions. As soon as any new details come to hand we will widely communicate across all platforms. The plan at this stage is to run a 4 week program if restrictions permit. If you know of anyone who lives locally with Kindergarten age children for 2021, please don’t hesitate to invite them along or recommend our school as a fantastic place to be!

Kind regards,

Matt Barr

Principal

PBL “Positive Behavioural Learning” Focus

The excitement is building as this week students can reap the rewards of showing respect, responsibility and positive relationships by attending the Bluey’s Reward Day on Thursday. Students have been reminded to continue showing the 3R’s especially on Thursday. Students are encouraged to be at the right place at the right time and to participate enthusiastically in all activities. A special task this term is to encourage classmates with their positive behaviour and reward choices. This will ensure that all students have a wonderful and deserved day of fun at our school.

Great results in UNSW Science Test.

Woy Woy South students achieved some very pleasing results in the UNSW ICAS Science Test. Leading the way was Juliet from 3/4A and Alexandria from 5/6P who both achieved a certificate of Credit placing them in the top 35 of all students in their grade attempting the test. Just behind was Devin from 3/4N who achieved a certificate of Merit. Congratulations to all the participating students and well done for testing yourself in this highly competitive arena.

The races vary in length from 2km for the younger students up to 3km for the students turning 11 or 12 this year. Unfortunately, we cannot invite our community to come in to spectate and assist marshal the event but hopefully it will still be a fun day for all and a great way to finish the term.

Bluey’s Snack Shack

We would like to take this time to thank all the volunteers who have helped throughout the year in the canteen. Without your help we would not be able to do certain things, such as making our nutritious canteen cooked meals and providing those recess specials the students so look forward to. On that note, we are always needing new volunteers, so if you can spare an hour or half a day each month, we would love to see you!

Next term we have some exciting specials planned. Once again, we will be celebrating Halloween with some scary, spooky recess specials. The library will be exploring some weird and wonderful creatures which we will also explore with recess treats. Our wonderful Year 6 students will embark on their last term here at Woy Woy South before they head off to high school so we will celebrate with one last meal deal.

Enjoy the holidays and be safe, we look forward to seeing everyone in Term 4!

Volunteers for the week ahead are:

Thursday 24th September - Kieren

Friday 25th September - Ellen and Belinda

Term 4:

Monday 12th October - helper needed

We remind all volunteers to sign in at the front office before heading to the canteen.

 Billy G’s Cookie Dough Fundraiser

We are holding a Billy G’s Gourmet Cookie Dough drive as a major fundraiser over the school holidays and into Term 4, and we ask for your support. All funds raised will go towards Friendship Seats in our playground.

Billy G’s is an Australian, family owned and operated business. There are 10 delicious flavours of cookie dough available to order – there is even a cheese flavoured doggie dough for your special furry family member! This delicious cookie dough is only available through fundraising and is not sold in stores, so stock up!

Students should by now have received a Billy G’s fundraiser order form with instructions on how to collect orders from family, friends and neighbours. Students can obtain orders in cash using the order form together with online fundraising. Students who sell 1 tub or more are entitled to an incentive prize for their efforts. But why not aim higher? You have the option to choose up to five prizes and this will set your fundraising goal.

Creating an online fundraising page is as easy as 1, 2, 3….

Head to www.cookiedough.com.au to create your online fundraising page by clicking the ‘register now’ button, then fill in your information as a parent/guardian.

Choose your child’s prize goal and create their avatar.

Share your child’s online fundraising page with your family and friends via the ‘share’ section.

You can enter your cash sales into the online portal along with your online sales.

How would you like the chance to win a dream holiday worth $10,000?? Create an online fundraising page, sell or purchase one tub or more of the Billy G’s Gourmet Cookie Dough and you will automatically go into the draw to win this fantastic prize.

The Leaderboard Challenge – if you become the highest fundraiser in our school’s leaderboard you will automatically go into the draw for the chance to win a Cruise worth $5,000. How exciting!!

How to order prizes – there are 2 ways in which to order your child’s prize.  Once the fundraiser has finished you can –
