Dear Community
I’d like to start with a couple of thank yous this fortnight. Firstly, thank you to our community for being so understanding and flexible as we have struggled to maintain staff across the school. We have been able to do this with minimal disruption to students, largely because of our fantastic staff, who even though they are at times feeling a little tired and overwhelmed, have stepped up to support each other by taking in extra students where required, covering extra duties and often forgoing their planning time when specialist teachers haven’t been available to take their classes. It is once again a true testament to the Scarborough way, with everyone chipping in to do what needs to be done with minimum fuss.
I’d also like the thank our wonderful P&C for their efforts during the election on Saturday. Their very successful sausage sizzle and cake stall has earned them valuable dollars which can be used to support our school in a variety of ways. This would not be possible without the efforts of those who gave up their Saturday to make this happen. I hear that whilst they were pretty exhausted at the end of the day, all the hard work was worth it and there was a fantastic community atmosphere that was enjoyed by all. So, thank you!
Below is a list of classrooms that have had COVID positive cases over the last week where the staff/students were possibly at school whilst infectious.
This information is just to give you the opportunity to monitor for symptoms and test where required.
Unless otherwise stated, the room concerned has had one or two cases, but not a significant cluster.

Thank you to everyone this week who has let the school know of cases in your families. Below are the processes that need to be followed to keep us all safe.
Below is a snapshot of things to do if your child becomes COVID positive or a close contact:
If your child tests positive
- Please notify the school by emailing either myself or the front office
- Your child must isolate for 7 days.
- Any siblings of the positive child may still come to school in accordance with the close contact details below
If your child is a close contact
- Please notify the school by emailing either myself or the front office
- Your child may still attend school providing they;
- have no symptoms (regardless of any test result)
- have a negative RAT each day (we encourage this to be in the morning, before school, where possible)
- There is no requirement for close contact students of primary school age to wear masks, although they can if they choose to.
- If your child becomes symptomatic during the day, you will be contacted to collect them.
On a final note regarding COVID, the Department of Education has provided each child with 20 free RATs. These are now available for you to pick up from the front office between 8:30 and 3:30 each day.
School Board
I would like to welcome Chris Doohan onto our Board. Chris has a daughter in kindy and has worked in several high schools, most recently Churchlands SHS as a Head of Learning Area in HASS (History and Social Sciences). We look forward to having him on board!
