PREMIERS READING CHALLENGE

Be in it to win it - weekly prizes

Premiers Reading Challenge

Every week, during the Premiers Reading Challenge, there is a randomly chosen winner for a weekly prize.  You need to have logged at least one book that week to be in the running.  Some of the great prizes so far:

- experience the wonders of the cosmos with an Astro Star Tour.

- enjoy a mystery picnic with AmazingCo.

- zip through the air across the Swan River with a Matagarup Zip and Climb.

All registered students who complete the challenge by reading and logging 12 books will also be eligible for some fantastic family travel prizes.  These will be announced after the challenge finishes on the 9 September, 2022.

Last week we were very lucky to have a student chosen from Rawlinson Primary.

What Should Children Eat?

Try and follow these basic guidelines when deciding what to feed your children:

·         Include 2 fruit and 5 vegetable serves into the daily routine.

·         Serve lean meats, fish, chicken and dairy.  Remember eggs and nuts!

·         Choose wholegrain bread and cereal.

·         Limit saturated fat intake and reduce total fat intake.

·         Limit fast food like chips and pastries.

·         Limit sugary drinks and offer water or low fat milk instead.

·         Limit lollies, chocolate, biscuits, cakes and other foods with a high sugar content.

Following these guidelines will help our children to be healthy children. For further information go to www.eatforhealth.gov.au

Healthy Food Children Will Love!

·         Blend fruit with milk and a spoonful of low fat yoghurt to make a smoothie.

·         Freeze fruit (such as grapes, pear or banana).

·         Top toast with ricotta cheese, banana slices and cinnamon.

·         Cut vegies into bite-sized pieces.

·         Mix chopped tomato and green capsicum with baked beans.  Put the mixture on toast, or in a baked potato, and sprinkle with low-fat cheese.

·         Add cooked vegetables to lightly beaten eggs.  Melt some polyunsaturated margarine in a pan and cook the mixture gently over low heat until eggs are firm.

Remember to use a cool bag or put a bottle of frozen water in the lunch box to keep food cool at school. Keep lunches interesting by including salads, wraps and dips with cut up vegies.  For more recipes children will love, go to www.freshforkids.com.au

P & C NEWS

UNIFORM SHOP

Sports Carnival Open!

On the morning of the Rawlinson Sports carnival 18th August between 8am and 8.30am, I will be at the Uniform Shop door in the undercover area (near the canteen).  From there you can purchase any last minute faction t-shirts.  It will only be open until the carnival parade begins.  The last delivery day before the carnival is Monday 15th August, so orders will need to be done on Qkr! by 2.30pm Sunday 14th.

Second hand items needed!

Currently we have limited second hand stock!

Lately I have not been able to fulfill all requests for second hand items.  So I would like to ask for families to donate your no longer needed, washed, clean uniform items so that we may be better able to fulfil these requests.  The Uniform Donations tub is in the undercover area near the canteen, or you could give them to the office for them to pass on to me.

Price Increases

To date there have been price increases in 2014/2015, 2020, and now 2022.  These increases were able to be absorbed by our small profit margin and we are no longer able to absorb these costs.  The 2020 price rise was the first time the Uniform Shop had to pass the increase on to the Rawlinson community for the Leavers Shirt and the Staff Polos.

By now you would have seen the mid year prices rise on the Polo shirts and Fleece Jumpers.  Unfortunately it will not end there.  We have had another significant rise from our supplier and I am sorry to say, the next increase will be across the majority of items.  It will be implemented on close of business this year (November 24th) and we will open in 2023 with new prices across our range.

Again, I am sorry to have to implement this but I am without an alternative.
