Dear parents and carers,
2023 Classes
I am currently organising classes for the 2023 school year. If you know your child / children will not be attending Lihir International School in 2023, and you have not yet informed me, please let me know as soon as possible, so that year level numbers and class organisation can be finalised. 2023 classes will be announced in week 9.
Awards Night
In the last week of this term, on Wednesday the 30th of November, the school will host its Awards Night. The evening will consist of various awards for each class and feature class concert items. Further information regarding the Awards Night will be disseminated in coming weeks.
School for term 4 will finish on Thursday the 1st December.
Year 8 and 10 National Exams
This week, our first year 10 class sat for their Lower Secondary School Certificate Examinations. The class have been working hard in preparation for the exams. Thanks to Mr Melavuvu who was our external invigilator for the exams. Thanks to the Year 10 parents who provided a lovely lunch for the students to enjoy on the completion of their exams.
Our National Exams coordinator, Ms Patricia Yip, will attend year 10 exam marking in Kavieng next week, representing Lihir International School.
The year 8 National Exams are in week 4, from Monday the 25th October. Our year 8s are currently very busy in preparation for these exams.
Year 10 Camp and Work Experience
Following the year 10 National Exams, our year 10 class will head off on a Transition Camp to Kavieng for a couple of days. The camp is designed to prepare them for Work Experience and includes a visit to OLSH International Kavieng for an awareness on year 11 subject selections. Following this, the students will participate in a Work Experience program coordinated by Mr Collins. This program gives the students a valuable taste of the workforce, prior to subject selection for year 11.
School Gate
Parents are reminded to only enter and exit the school through the front gate at the Aginas carpark.
Please make an appointment to see the principal if you have any concerns or queries.
Regards,
Mr Greg Neville
