Principal's Message

Dear Families,

In March 2020 we were just starting our first bit of Remote Learning.  It is amazing to look at the last two years and see what has changed.  I feel particularly grateful to have students and staff at school, parents able to come onsite and for events like the New Families Pizza Night, World’s Greatest Shave and Buddy Day able to happen.

3 Way Conferences

3 Way Conferences will be held next week.  Families can book these now (please see email sent this morning).  We aim to have the bookings open for a week, but we have been dealing with some software and staffing issues.  I apologise for the shorter time frame this term.

The Resilience Project – Parent Session

Mansfield Primary School, and other schools in the Mansfield Shire, has teamed up with The Resilience Project to help us provide evidence-based, practical strategies to build resilience.  Our staff have attended a staff session, our students are attending sessions today and the parent presentation is online on Wednesday 23rd March from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.

Please register for the Parent/ Community presentation using the following registration link:-https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_gNTFI0MqTz2uy3yZEkFHdwUpon registration, registrants will receive a link to attend the presentation, along with a reminder the day prior.

Mobile Phones and Devices

We understand that students sometimes need to have a phone for contact at the end of the school day.  Our mobile phone policy is that students sign their phones in at the school office before school and sign them out again in the afternoon.  Phones are kept in a locked box at the office.  If your child has a phone, could you please have a conversation with them and make sure they are signing their phone in at the office?  A number of students have devices such as smart watches which have capacity to call and text.  School Council are working through how we update our Mobile Phone policy to ensure these do not have an impact on learning and wellbeing at Mansfield Primary School.

Pizza Night

Thank you to Parents and Friends for hosting the New Families Pizza night last night.  It is a great way for families that are new to Mansfield Primary School to connect with each other and to other members of the school community.  A huge thankyou to Jaqueline Elliott from Mansfield Pizza who donates pizza bases to us every year.  The conversations were great, and the pizzas were delicious.

Buddy Day

On Friday there will be no students or staff at school.  We will all be out on a river somewhere spending time with our buddies.  This is an important day and helps to build and reinforce relationships between our students.  A huge thank you to Ms Driessen and our staff for their planning and organisation.

World’s Greatest Shave

Mansfield Primary School has a strong history of supporting the Leukaemia Foundation through the World’s Greatest Shave.  This year we will be participating on Thursday April 7th.  Grade 6 students will have an opportunity to join our team and shave or colour their hair and raise funds for Leukaemia research.  Notes will go home next week with interested Grade 6 students. Thank you to Mrs Hewitt for her work coordinating the World’s Greatest Shave this year.

Ride to School and Bully No Way Day

Next Friday, 25th March, is National Ride to School Day.  I will be riding in from Merrijig, let’s see if we can fill up the bike shed next Friday.   We will also be filming a short, whole school, Bully No Way Day clip on the 25th March.

Like always, please get in touch with us with any questions or concerns.  Call or email your classroom teacher, call the front office or email me tom.macmunn@education.vic.gov.au

Have a great weekend.

Take Care,

Tom
