MR MALCOLM McDONALD

Mr McDonald, the man with the positive, cheery outlook, forever the optimist.  How did it manifest itself in the school setting? A typical example was correctly predicting which direction inclement weather, as a precursor to events would take, better than the weatherman! He willingly took on precarious events, Pet Day, Bivouac, Bike Day – Bike and Dog Day, which always resulted in joy for participants and remarkably through the oozing positivity of Mr McDonald, kept any mishaps at bay.

It is time to reflect and celebrate Mr McDonald’s achievements and idiosyncrasies moving the school forward and making it the unique and loved school it is today. The plethora of activities and events initiated by Mr McDonald, which are likely to leave with him; the BRPS BIVOUAC, Mum’s / Dad’s Night Out, Mungo excursion, ideas exciting the school through COVID 19 and Lockdowns.

Mr McDonald, a master in nurturing and bringing the community together with his open-door policy, generosity, and willingness to assist with his ongoing commitment and time where everyone felt welcome and valued, when at, and long after leaving the school.

The community laughs about Mr McDonald’s obsession with the grass but there is not a better looking school than Beaumont Road because of it.  Buildings and classroom shine in the light because of Mr McDonald’s passion for ensuring our school looks its best so children have a magnificent learning environment to achieve their finest work.

It is with sadness, but a hint of anticipation that we farewell Mr McDonald, both for the journey he will now undertake, and the possibilities Beaumont Road Public School will continue to experience. It has been a privilege to be a caretaker of the school through the transition of Mr McDonald processing and progressing his retirement. An end of an era is taking place at Beaumont Road School!

Moments come and go but memories last forever!

Parents and staff over many years have been aware of the love I have had for Beaumont Road Public School and my desire to postpone my departure.

To have the opportunity to support dedicated parents, lead professional teachers to implement programs and observe the development of approximately 1 000 children from Kindergarten to Year 6 has provided a great deal of satisfaction.

It has been an absolute privilege and pleasure to have been Principal of Beaumont Road Public School for nineteen years and I feel like the luckiest Principal.

During the last couple of weeks, I have appreciated the many kind words from so many of the Beaumont Road Public School community.

I look forward to meeting parents at the farewell assembly organised by the school and P&C to be held tomorrow, Friday at 2:00 pm

I am leaving with fond memories.
