Lithgow Public School Newsletter

Term 1 Week 8

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome to Week 8 at Lithgow Public School. As usual it has been a busy 2 weeks of learning for our students and it has been great to have spent time in the classrooms working with them.

Unfortunately the Coronavirus continues to impact on the entire community so I would like to provide you with information on how Lithgow Public School is managing this situation.

Lithgow Public School continues to follow all Department of Education advice regarding changes to school procedure to minimise the spread of Coronavirus. These include but are not limited to:

·         Adopting social distancing measures

·         Teaching the importance of good hygiene practices including handwashing

·         Increased handwashing procedures during the school day

·         Cancelling or postponing school events that involve large gatherings

·         Reducing visitor access to the school

·         Being mindful of student health throughout the school day

Lithgow Public School is fully operational and students should attend school wherever possible. I remind the community that current advice to schools is that only those people who are unwell should remain at home. This is the case for students and staff.

The school will continue to provide advice and updates as they are released. We thank parents and carers and the school community for your ongoing support and understanding as we continue to be flexible with respect to updated advice whilst providing the best education and support for your children.

More detailed information about the Department of Education’s procedures regarding Coronavirus can be found at:

https://education.nsw.gov.au/

The school continues to implement normal teaching and learning programs with adjustments where necessary to make sure that our students are receiving continuity in their education and are continuing to progress in their learning. We look forward to seeing your children fit and healthy next week.

Have a great fortnight,

Mark Davies | Principal Lithgow Public School

Amy and Charlie are our Super Swimmers

Amy and Charlie recently competed at the Western Region Swimming trials in Dubbo.  Amy had an amazing carnival making it to State for 4 events which included 50m Breast Stroke; 50m Freestyle; 100m Freestyle and the 200m ID Medley.

Charlie also made it to State for his favourite event, the 50m Breast Stroke.

Both students have been training extremely hard and are rewarded with these fantastic results.

Unfortunately the State Titles have been postponed at this stage. Amy and Charlie are still extremely keen to compete.

We are a nut free school

At Lithgow Public School we have several students who suffer severe allergic reactions if exposed to peanuts.  We ask that you please avoid packing food products for your child that contain nuts of any type including nut spreads and any kind of chocolate.  We thank you for your assistance in this matter.
