ENROLMENT FORMS FOR PREP 2023 ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED

Prep enrolments are now being accepted for 2023. The enrolment pack may be collected from the front office, with Kate or Kelly being available to assist with any questions you may have. As you can imagine staffing is dependent upon enrolment figures so the sooner, we are able to finalise student numbers, the sooner we can get our staffing sorted out for next year.

SCHOOL REVIEW NEWS

Every four years a school goes through a process of assessing how they have gone according to goals and targets set from their previous review. The school looks at enablers and barriers to achieving the goals and determines future goals to drive the school forward. The review is made up of a core panel of people including the Reviewer, SEIL, School Council President and two Challenge Partners (Principals from other schools). During the course of the investigation information is taken into consideration including our performances in NAPLAN, student progress based on teacher judgements in reports, staff, student and parent opinion survey data. In addition the members of the school community are involved in a forum. Likewise, students are engaged in conversation about how the school is going. Once all the information has been collated and listened to, a new school strategic plan is developed. This plan then feeds into our Annual Implementation Plans to guide our work moving forward.

Yesterday I met with our school reviewer, Robert Fearnside and SEIL, Dr Joanna Day yesterday via Webex. This was a planning meeting to determine the agenda for the validation day and then the fieldwork day. This is an exciting time as it reflects on our learning journey and establishes key directions moving forward.

SCIENCE EXCURSION 1/2 Morrish to DMSC

We would really love to have some more Helpers to do the walk around town. Please phone the office if you can help.

BREAKFAST CLUB

BREAKFAST CLUB: The smell of cooked toast in the morning is a common one at the start of the day for visitors to the school as students access breakfast club. Along with toast; students are able to have milk, apples and oranges. Much of

this is donated by Foodbank and supported by the Bendigo Bank. It is wonderful to know that all students can start the day with a full tummies.

SICKNESS CONTINUES WITHIN THE SCHOOL

A reminder to families that there has been a high number of adults and children reporting sickness. Sometimes this is a COVID positive case reported following a RAT other times it is a head cold or similar. In any event, please continue to use strategies to minimize the spread of infection. Strategies include washing hands, sneezing into your elbow, wearing a face mask and maintaining social distance. I thank you for your support in this matter.

Salad Roll Lunch - THIS FRIDAY 2ND SEPTEMBER.

WE WANT OUR PARENTS/CAREGIVERS/GUARDIANS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behavior, and student engagement. We encourage all families to participate in this survey. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. This year, all families are invited to participate in the survey.

The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 15th August to Friday 16th September.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

Reminder for kids to pick up school jumpers from the oval once playtime is over.

The lost and found box is over flowing with them at the moment.

There is a MASSIVE amount of missing jumpers in the lost and found.

They are being found on the Big oval. Please encourage your children to pick them up once the bell goes.

Thanks

STUDENT ATTENDANCE: EVERY DAY COUNTS

Research shows that the academic and social development of students is affected each day they are absent, and that going to school every day is the single most important part of your child's education. Following the potential disruptions to the social and academic progress of students caused due to COVID-19 over the past two years, it is more important than ever for children to be at school.

If your child is unwell or absolutely cannot attend school for some reason, it is important to let the school know of their absence and the reason why prior to the day if planned or at the start of the day if the absence is not planned. The easiest way to do this is via uEducateUs. Alternatively, you can contact the office at school on 5389 1270.
