Athletics 2020.

Athletics Carnival 2020:

This year our LEPS Athletics Carnival took place in two parts, the first one being our field events back in Term 1 at school including Shot Put, Long Jump, Discus and High Jump. Then in Term 3 we were able to complete our track events in a modified version at Melrose Park which even saw us be able to hold finals in the 100m and battle the weather.

We were extremely lucky to be able to complete our Athletics Carnival for our students and be able to award and present our winners and Age Champions at Assembly on Friday.

The winning house for the Athletics Carnival was Brabham on 689 points, in 2nd place was Lillee on 618, in 3rd place was  Chappell on 495 and in 4th place was Goolagong on 400 points.

Our 2020 Athletics Age Champions:

Junior Girl- Charlotte Clayton

Junior Boys- Manase Masudi

11yr Old Girl- Jade Plunkett

11yr old boys- Jack Fitzgerald

Senior Girl- Nikiah Ritchie

Senior Boy- Xzayviah Rehu

We were also able to present the Pettiford perpetual trophy for the Champion house after all carnival points were tallied.  For 2020 the Champion house on 1047 points was Brabham.

Congratulations to all our ribbon winners and Age Champions.

I would also like to thank our Year 6 helpers for time keeping all day- Makaia Gemmell, Nikiah Ritchie, Amelia Butler, Samara Gardiner and Susila Monger.

You can watch the Athletics Assembly via Facebook- please note there was an error with the 1500m event, but this has now been rectified.

Story Writing with 1/2S.

Story Writing – 1/2S

Year 1/2S wrote ‘Clickety-clack on the Tracks’ last week during their library writing program. Students shared their ideas of how to phrase Mrs. Jennings’ memory in the most interesting way. The students used language they had learned from vocabulary about trains taken from quality texts and from looking at an image of the XPT in the 1980s.

Clickety-clack on the Tracks

When I was young, the XPT wasn’t blue, it was red.

I hobbled down the aisle as my feet shifted from side to side. I got past dozens of legs and sleepy heads.

In the dining car, I shimmied on the wobbly stool and out came my fancy breakfast of a shiny croissant and a bubbly, cold milkshake.

As the train shook, my plate jumped up and down, and when I tried to sip my milkshake, the straw went up my nose.
