Kindergarten Orientation
Our last Orientation session is this week. We have loved having so many excited children each week, learning about their new school, getting to know the teachers and making new friends. We cannot wait to have another fun filled session with our new students on Wednesday 6th November at 9:15am.
Gate Closure
From next Monday 11th November we will be padlocking the gate between the carpark and the Kindergarten playground. We have had increased safety concerns with students and parents crossing through the car park to get from one side of the school to the other. As you can all appreciate we want to maintain the highest levels of safety for all our students. For parents dropping children to YMCA in the morning and afternoon, you will now need to walk past the office to get to the buildings for pick up. We understand that this may cause some initial frustration while we all get used to this new procedure, however, the long term safety gains for our students far outweigh any negatives. I appreciate your support in this matter.
High Achievers
A big congratulations and good luck to Jules Cross who is competing at the State Debating Championships this week. Good luck to our students who are competing at the State Athletics Championships on Thursday. Well done Emily Hartland, Miriam Gauld, Kalani Godinet, Annabelle James and Isabella Muc. Hammondville Public School are proud of all of you.
P & C Fundraisers
I would like to acknowledge the wonderful work our P&C do in organising, running and promoting many fundraisers across the year. Our school is very lucky to have such dedicated members of our parent body that strive to raise much needed funds for school improvement. Over the next few months you will start to see lots of additional extras being added to the school, particularly in the playground. Without commitment and support of funds from the P&C these works would not be possible. The financial support the P&C offer the school through contributions is invaluable and that comes back to our families who support all the fundraisers that are held. Through our Colour Run we raised $4771, through the Silver Coin Challenge $700 was raised and the Halloween Disco brought in $1381. Well done Hammondville and a big thank you to our P&C. If you would like to be a part of the P&C or find out what goes on behind the scenes we will be holding our monthly meeting tonight in the library at 7pm.
Grandparents Day
Next Thursday 14th November we will be holding our Grandparents Day celebration at 1:00pm. This is a wonderful time to celebrate and acknowledge the powerful and important relationships our students have with their grandparents and grandfriends. “Grandparents are a delightful blend of laughter, caring deeds, wonderful stories and love.” - Unknown
Leavers and New Enrolments
As we are nearing the end of the year and begin planning for 2020, I urge all families to please tell the office as soon as possible if you will be leaving or if you have family or friends moving to the area who may want to enrol at Hammondville. If you are going on holidays and will be returning after the 29th January 2020, please contact the office as we will require families to indicate in writing the intended return date, so we can include your children in our numbers. The sooner we know our enrolment numbers the sooner we can begin class formations and staffing arrangements for 2020.
Positive Stars Week 3
I had the lovely opportunity to see many students across the school last week for producing excellent work, demonstrating outstanding work habits and being exceptional learners. Well done to the following students on being Positive Stars in Week 3. Josie and Mia in K Red, Tahlia, Toby, Jarryd and Lucy in K Blue. Keep up the great work and I can’t wait to see more students this week.
Have a wonderful week of learning!
