In Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus is led by the Spirit into the wilderness. He fasts for forty days and forty nights and is very hungry. Then the devil tempts him, promising riches, power and glory if Jesus worships him. But Jesus turns Satan away. Then angels appear and look after him. All of Sunday’s readings, including this Gospel, are all about temptation. When Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, they were going against the desires of God. Jesus is sometimes called ‘the new Adam’, because he lived in perfect obedience to his Father.
This Term the Year 4/5 class has discussed Community in Religious Education. We created our first class display which explored communities we belong to, their leaders and how people become members. We have read Scripture on how Jesus chose his disciples and initiated a community of followers that would later become our Church.
