Dear Parents
Welcome back to school! It is wonderful to see all of the students again. It feels like the beginning of the year, classrooms are full of learners, playgrounds are full of games and laughter, everyone is settled and excited. The students are really enjoying being back with their friends and classmates and staff are enjoying having the students back. I know the majority of the time students say they don’t like school…. right now, I would beg to differ.
Thank you to parents, carers and families. I know this hasn’t been an easy time but you have survived. Congratulations to the students, their resilience has definitely been tested through changing times. Hopefully we are through the worst of it.
We continue with our heightened hygiene processes and social distancing when practical. Our Drop-offs and Pick-up procedures will continue for the time being.
Even with the interruptions to our learning and teaching programs, teachers are busy gathering assessment data and information for Semester 1 Reports. These will be sent home on Thursday 25th June. Reports will grade the subjects of Religion, English and Mathematics on 5-point scale and teachers will provide a general comment. All Specialist subjects will have a semester overview.
Opportunity will be provided to discuss progress with your child’s classroom teachers at parent/teacher interviews next term. Booking information will be provided next term. We are grateful to all our families for their amazing support and interaction through the Remote Learning time.
Now that we are back to school, it is important that students maintain their high standard of appearance. There are many students not in the correct uniform, do not have their hair tied back, or have incorrect footwear. We can appreciate that children may have grown and uniforms no longer fit, however we still require a note from parents explaining that it is only a short term issue.
Last Day of Term 2: Pyjama Day: Thursday 25th June - To finish off Term 2 with a little fun, the last day of term will be a Pyjama Day. Children can come to school in PJs, and dressing gown if needed. The canteen will still be open for lunch orders. Mid-year Student Reports will go on this day and school will finish at the usual time (3:10pm)
Closure Day: 26th June - Friday 26th June will be a student free, teacher planning day. This day will be used to evaluate student learning during Term 2 and to plan accordingly for Term 3.
Congratulations to Peta Barnett and her husband Callum who are expecting their first child in September.
Regards
Chris Dortmans, Principal
