Update

Newsletter Information

For the remainder of this term and next we are trialling having the full Newsletter on odd weeks and an Update on the even weeks. This will assist in streamlining the information sent out to families. This week you are receiving therefore an “Update”.

Reporting on Semester 1 Learning

For this semester's reporting, the provisions for how we report are hugely different. We want to make use of this opportunity to really set the students up for future success in their learning. In this semester's report, reporting on separate subjects and giving grades are not required. The format of the reporting process is a local decision. The format we have developed reflects the power of effective and timely feedback to inform student goal setting and engagement. It also values and builds in the involvement of parents which is also critical to student success.

Thank you again for the significant contribution you have made this semester to your child’s remote learning. We value greatly the information you will provide in completing the following questions with your child.

Parents will be emailed a link tomorrow for them to complete the form. The link will also be sent out through Skoolbag. Hardcopies can also be printed at home and filled out using the PDF link supplied if necessary. Students and parents are then to answer three questions together provided in this Google Form to be completed by Monday June 22.

Updating Student Details

It is imperative to have up-to-date correct contact details for all our students. In case of an emergency, current mobile numbers for parents and emergency contacts are required. We also request an email address for each parent.

Change of details forms are available from the school office, Skoolbag app and school website.

Please note that this information is treated as confidential.

Unexplained Absences

Please remember if your chid is absent from school you are required to inform the school in writing, preferably via the Skoolbag App on the first day of absence if at all possible.  All explanations to the school must be provided within 7 days from the first day of any period of absence.

Attendace records cannot be amended after 7 days and will remain as an unexplained absence on your child's record.

Please ensure you label all uniform items with your child's name and current class, using a waterproof marker.  We are unable to return the items to your child's class if they do not have a name.

PARISH SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM UPDATE

We thank you for your on going patience, prayers and support for our parish community during these uncertain times.

After consultation with the Diocese of Parramatta our parish has decided to make amendments to our sacramental program this year in light of the current restrictions on gatherings.

The parish First Eucharist and Confirmation programs will be postponed until further notice. A decision on these sacramental programs will be made as further restrictions are eased. As you would appreciate, the witnessing by family, extended family and friends of those completing these sacraments has been an important part of making these  significant occasions memorable. Therefore by delaying these programs it will maximise the opportunity for this.

Because of this, we have decided to move forward the preparation for the sacrament of reconciliation.

This sacrament is for children in Year 3 and above who have been baptised.

We intend the preparation session to occur via Zoom (online video conferencing).

We will be inviting children and their parents to come to the church for the actual sacrament. Tentatively this will be done on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon/evening in the month of August 2020.

Please find attached the dates for the program. Registration for this program will begin on Sunday 21st June 2020 via our website, (www.maryimmac.org.au)

Please do not hesitate to contact our parish sacramental coordinator on the details below if you have any further questions.
