From the Principal's Desk...

Celebrating Visual Art @ BPS!

If you happened to attend the Art Show Soirée on Friday evening and/or the Family Fete Day on Saturday, you would have experienced the quality student artworks, both individual and collaborative, that have been showcased in our Art Gallery (the hall).

Our talented visual art specialist teacher, Mrs Felicity Bowman, has done a superb job nurturing and inspiring the creativity that lies within all 352 young artists at Balmain Public School! A number of class teachers and community members also were involved in the collaborative pieces.

We are incredibly grateful to our P&C, who continue to support the program at the school. In particular, huge thanks goes to our P&C President, Lauren (Ava's Mum), as well as to Karen (Felix R's Mum), for the countless hours spent organising and executing an amazing 2-tiered fundraising event, over 2 days! This dynamic duo also secured Platinum sponsorship from Ray White Rozelle and Belinda Cassano! Thanks so much to all of you who were able to assist Lauren and Karen in making the vision a successful reality! Both events were truly NEXT LEVEL!

There are so many people we are grateful for:

  • Mrs Bowman, Ms Withers and staff helpers, who assisted in the transformation of the hall into an impressive art gallery!
  • Josie (Ed H's Mum), who has done an incredible job of acquiring 108 external artworks for our silent auction, including stunning pieces from our parent artists. These artworks have been so professionally hung in our library & 3/4P classroom space, by Josie and some helpers! Over $18,000 was raised at the end of the silent auction...what an AMAZING RESULT!
  • All the volunteers who helped set up and/or clean up the 2 events - the Soirée and Family Fete Day! WOW!
  • Lindsay (Maddie E's Dad), from Corner Bar, who ensured fine liquids flowed at the adults-only Soirée, as well as supplying staff to assist!
  • All the volunteers - parent/carer, students and community members - who ensured we had fabulous stalls and a variety of engaging activities at the Family Fete Day!

We are incredibly grateful to each and every one of you who was able to donate, both in kind, as well as financially, to these events, including the generous winning bids for the collaborative artworks, where a massive $13,900 was raised!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

K BELUGA!!!!!

K Beluga love going to STEAM with Ms Loxton. This week, KB were thrilled to take home the pinball machines they had been working on over the past few weeks, as a part of the 'Pinball Machine Challenge'. The process included designing, making and testing, using a variety of materials and a marble, to explore the concepts of movement and friction. The room was buzzing with the sound of collaboration, problem solving and excitement!

“The best part about STEAM is working as a team in groups to make stuff!” by Lyra
