St Mary's Bulletin

Term 3 - Week 5 (23 August, 2019)

From the Principal

Dear St Mary's School Community

Throws and Jumps

It was a beautiful day for Throws and Jumps on Monday.  The students all competed admirably and show great sportsmanship.  Thank you to all the parents who came along and helped (the day could not have happened without you) or who were spectators.  A big thanks to Mrs Criddle for organising the day.  We now look ahead to our Athletics Carnival next Friday.

Performing Arts Festival

Congratulations to Mrs Criddle and the Performing Arts Troupe on their performance on Wednesday night at the Perth Convention Centre for the Catholic Performing Arts Festival.  We were one of over 40 schools who participated in the event.  The children were both nervous and very excited about their performance The Greatest Showman which they executed very well.  The adjudicators said that the performance had “bold and sustained energy throughout” and that the costuming was “bright and inclusive – very clever”  I was beyond proud of the students and thank Mrs Criddle immensely for giving the students this opportunity, which I am sure they will never forget!

Pre-primary Assembly

Congratulations to our Pre-primary class who presented a beautiful assembly this morning of "The Little Red Hen".  There are some budding actors in Pre-primary and all of the students executed their parts very well and read beautifully.  Thank you to Miss Piazzola and Mrs Jefferys for preparing the students so well.

Book Week

Book Week 2019 is being held this week.  At St Mary’s School we will be celebrating next Wednesday, 28 August with a parade and then a day of activities where students have the opportunity to engage with the CBCA Short-listed Picture Books.  The theme this year is: “Reading Is My Super Power”.  All students are invited to come to school dressed as their super hero or favourite book character.  I thank all parents in advance for organising costumes for their children – I can’t wait to see everyone’s creativity come to the fore!  I wonder who all the staff will come dressed as???

Fathers Day

I look forward to welcoming all fathers, grandfathers and father figures in our community to the Father’s Day Liturgy and Breakfast next Friday morning at 7.30am in the Hall.

Athletics Carnival

St Mary’s School Athletics Carnival will be held next Friday, 31st August at the Merredin Recreation Centre.  Thank you in advance to the Year One and Year Two parents for organising lunch for the students and coffee and cake for the adults to Mrs Elisha Criddle for all her planning and organisation.  I look forward to seeing you all there to cheer on your children.

Water Fountain No 2

The second water fountain purchased by the P&F was installed over the weekend in the Early Years space.  Thank you once again to our wonderful P&F – the Pre-Kindy, Kindy and Pre-primary students are certainly enjoying this new addition.

Welcome

We welcome the Wadsworth (Corey), Leake (Aisha) and Paterson (Lylah) families who all join the St Mary's community in 3 Year Old Kindy.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families.
