A message from our Principal

COVID Update

At this stage there are no new updates regarding school processes for COVID-19. A reminder that in the afternoon, the school gates will not be opened until 2.50pm so that parents can access the pick-up zones via Balaclava and Waterloo Ave. This is to ensure that we avoid any possibility of adults congregating on site. Thanks again for your co-operation with this, particularly during the recent wet weather.

Zoom Kindergarten Information Night

Due to the current restrictions on gatherings our scheduled Kindergarten Information Evening will now be hosted on Zoom this Wednesday, 29 June at 7pm. A follow up session on Wednesday 5th August at 7pm will provide a designated time for questions. Details for this event have been distributed to the local preschools and will be emailed to all families who have expressed interest in attending out school in 2021. These details will also be posted on our Facebook page and the school App. Please feel free to pass on these details to any one you know in the community who may have children commencing school in 2021.

School Photos

A reminder that our school photos are scheduled for Wednesday 5th August. Students will need to wear full winter uniform, however, jumpers will not be worn for the photo. Year 6 students are welcome to wear their Year 6 shirts.

MS Read-a-thon Success

WWS students are making amazing progress with the MS Read-a-thon! In just over a week our donations have tripled! We have raised almost $3000 and 46 registered WWS students have started logging the books they have read online. We are very proud of the effort our students are putting in for such a worthy cause. Special thanks to Mrs McNeil for her organisation and enthusiasm for this program.

Have a great week everyone,

Matt Barr

Principal

MS Readathon

Woy Woy South PS is participating in the MS Read-A-Thon this term. The MS Read-a-thon inspires kids to read as much as they can, for a great cause. Students can read whatever they like, as much as they like, in August. This year’s MS Read-a-thon begins on August 1st and wraps up on August 31st.

Some WWS teachers have signed up their classes and students can register to join their class through https://www.msreadathon.org.au/register/2020/child. If your student’s class has not registered yet, you can still join our school through this link and help us promote a love of reading, whilst supporting a worthwhile cause.

So far we have raised over $2000. A huge congratulations to the 39 students who have signed up and started receiving donations already. What amazing selfless students we have at WWSPS!

Thank you for your involvement, Happy reading!

K.McNeill

        Bluey’s Snack Shack is OPEN

Exciting news!!!! As of this week we will be open for recess and lunch breaks. We have missed all your smiling faces and look forward to serving you. Whilst we won’t be open for breakfast purchases for the moment, we will be open from 8:30am each morning for lunch orders only. And the good news is our full lunch menu is now available.

We do have a limited menu for recess and lunch breaks, but they include your favourites such as slushy’s, and at recess garlic bread and pizza melts. Each week we will feature a surprise recess special, so come over and check out our specials board or check back here to discover what it will be.

This week’s special is Pancakes on a Stick for 50c and will be available until Friday 31st July.

Did you know you can now order some frozen items on your online lunch order? Your lunch bag will be stamped (as shown in the picture below), and you will need to return the bag to the canteen to collect your frozen item.

Don’t forget to order your sushi on Sushi Tuesday, only $2.50. And remember, where possible, please place lunch orders via your Quickcliq account or have correct money in your lunch order bag.

We are still looking for volunteers to help in our canteen. If you can spare even one day per term please contact us via our Facebook page or email us at  woywoysouthpandc@hotmail.com

        P&C Meeting

        School Banking

School Banking is back. School Banking Day is every Friday!

School Banking is a fun, interactive and engaging way to help young Australians learn about money and practice good savings habits. Due to Covid 19 students won’t receive silver tokens until further notice. We will send a rewards card when students have enough tokens on our database. Sorry for any inconvenience.

If your child has previously participated in School Banking, or has an existing Commonwealth Bank Youthsaver account, they can start banking straight away by bringing their Dollarmites deposit wallet to school on School Banking day. If your child has lost their deposit wallet, please contact your School Banking Co-Ordinator or visit any Commonwealth Bank branch for a replacement.

Our School Banking program is made possible because of volunteers. Thank you to those volunteers for donating their time to run School Banking for our students. If you would like to know more about School Banking, please ask for a 2020 School Banking program parent guide from the school office or visit www.commbank.com.au/schoolbanking

Please note - if ever your child’s banking does not get processed it’s because the volunteers rely on the banking bags being sent to the office by the classroom teachers. Teachers are extremely busy sometimes and the bags may not make it in time. We thank you for your understanding.

        Uniform Shop

All Uniform Orders can now be collected at the canteen each morning. Please see Amanda or Jacqui to collect your orders. We are also open each Thursday morning between 8:45am and 9:15am.

Quickcliq is still the preferred way of purchasing our uniforms. Please, if you haven’t already made an account, please make one at www.quickcliq.com.au

We are currently low in stock for Size 6 and Size 8 Everyday Polo’s. Our new order has been placed and it should arrive approximately early September.

If you need to contact the Uniform Shop, please email us directly at wwspandcuniformshop@gmail.com
