Dear Parents & Guardians
With the extension of the current round of Remote Learning we understand that this is challenging for our whole school community. Please be kind to yourselves, complete your child/children's work around your work day if need be, take a break and do something fun if needed, seek ideas from your child’s teacher if they are having trouble engaging.
We are here to help but we are also governed by the current restrictions so please email your child’s teacher if needed as they are most probably also working from home, or if unsure of who to contact give the office a call and Nancy or Di will help you out.
Parent Teacher Interviews: Keeping the lines of communication are vital between home and school. These being our first ‘ZOOM’ parent teacher interviews, it was wonderful to see the high number of parents taking up the opportunity to discuss their child/ren’s progress.
We would like to gain parent feedback on this format for Parent teacher Interviews and will provide an Operoo form shortly for this purpose.
Whole School House Athletics: Unfortunately due to poor weather conditions last week, only the senior classes were able to complete their field events for athletics. We will find another day to complete the senior running events and include the junior students. The continuation of the current lockdown leaves us unsure if District Athletics will go ahead for students who would have qualified, we will advise on this as soon as we are able.
Swimming: Unfortunately we are unable to reschedule the last swimming lesson, which has been postponed a number of times already. Therefore, families will be reimbursed for this missed lesson. (All reimbursements from throughout the year will be processed towards the end of the year, parents will be advised )
Foundation Enrolments 2022: If you or anyone you know are wishing to enrol your child for 2022 please contact the office on 5997 1653 to obtain enrolment forms and book an interview at their earliest convenience.
The Feast of The Assumption of Mary: Although not mentioned in Scripture, the Assumption of Mary has been a solidly held belief of our faith since the earliest church, and has been officially celebrated by the Catholic Church since 6th century AD.
It is a Holy Day of Obligation and is celebrated annually on August 15. Every year, Christians celebrate when Our Blessed Mother, the mother of Jesus, was taken up into Heaven body and soul at the end of her life.
This Friday, 12th August, starting at 9:30am, we will celebrate this feast day with a Zoom Liturgy for the whole St John’s community. The link will be emailed to parents and posted on the children’s SeeSaw journal. We hope that you can join us.
Operoo Permissions/Forms: A reminder that Operoo permissions/forms are to be signed by parents only, of late we have noticed a number of children signing these, please ensure parents/guardians are singing all Operoo responses. Operoo should be checked regularly and permissions/requests actioned in a timely manner to allow for planning.
If you receive a text reminder of an Operoo request outstanding please action it that day to allow the form to be closed and planning to be completed.
St Francis Xavier College: Yr 7, 2023 online information evening is being held on Tuesday 17 August for interested families. Please see the information below to register.

Chris Dortmans, Principal
