Term 2 Week 3: 9th - 13th May 2022

Principal's Blog

Welcome to Week 3 Term 2.

Thank you to Jo Mazzatello, her volunteers and our school staff who helped last Friday morning, making the Mother’s Day breakfast such a huge success. It was wonderful to see so many mums, grandmas, nannas, and significant females come into school to enjoy time with their special young ones. Thank you also to Felicia DeSomer and her fund-raising team of volunteers for organising a very successful Mother’s Day Stall. Her organisation provided a valuable service for our students and ensured this event ran smoothly.

P&C AGM

The P&C will be holding its Annual General Meeting Monday 23rd May in the school Library from 5.30 -7.00pm. For any further information please email the P&C - cavesbeachpublicschool@pandcaffiliate.org.au

Pick Up and Drop Off Zone

Thank you to all parents who have been using our PICK UP and DROP OFF ZONE correctly and safely. To ensure these zones operate effectively and safely for all children and parents please remember the following:

DO NOT alight from your vehicle whilst in the DROP OFF ZONE. If you wish/need to assist your children from the car &/or escort them to the school gate in the morning, you must park in the parking area opposite the school and use the top crossing to enter the school grounds. The Drop Off zone must be allowed to always flow freely, so cars must move to the end of the zone to allow children to exit their vehicle. Children can enter the school using either the shelter gate or main school gate.

When picking up your child using our Pick Up Zone you are to clearly display your family name on your car’s front window, remain in your car and follow the direction of the staff responsible for the Pick Up Zone operation. If you have lost the signage, please contact the school office for another. When family names are visible for the staff the zone works very efficiently.

Every parent has the right to pick up and drop their child safely at school and we are all responsible for every child’s safety. Please consider if using these zones are the best option for you and your children.

New Blinds

Last weekend we had some long-awaited blinds installed to the Stage 3 classroom area. These blinds have replaced some that had seen better days. Our new blinds provide the walkway in front of 5/6P, 5/6E and 5/6M and subsequently the classrooms some much needed protection from the elements. We will continue to enhance this area with some much needed painting.

As we return to school for another wonderful term, it is important to remember how to treat people with courtesy and respect. We can use our Grow Your Mind animals to help us achieve this.

This fortnight is the OCTOPUS who helps us understand about feelings and emotions. To do this we need to learn about our own feelings and how to be sensitive towards our friends and family.
