Principal's Message

Dear Families,

As I am sure you are aware, the last week has been a real challenge with many students, staff and families unwell or isolating.  This has been a real challenge for our leadership team, our staff and of course those families who have been affected.  Thank you to everyone for their extra efforts over the last week or two.  Mr Bush, our king of timetables and organisation, needs a special mention.  He has been solving puzzles every day to make sure our school can manage.

We are continuing to wear masks, ask families to test their children, sanitise, use our air purifiers and minimise mixing of cohorts.  Hopefully we will have a normal Term 2, if anyone can remember what that looks like 😊.

IGA Community Rewards

Thank you to all of our families who have nominated Mansfield Primary School to receive community rewards when you shop at Marks’ IGA.  Stephen Marks presented me with a cheque for more than $2300 last week.  This money will go towards purchasing decodable readers to add to our classroom libraries.

If you are an IGA customer and would like to nominate MPS to receive your community rewards, please contact the office and we can help you to do that.

School Council

The Mansfield Primary School council works with the school to directly influence the quality of education that the school provides for its students.  Welcome to Ben Weatherhead and James Clelland who will join our school council for 2022.  A huge thank you to Sophie Yencken, Gina Elliott and Jacinta Elliott who are finishing their 2 year term.

I would like to thank all our staff, students and families for their energy this term.  Only one week to go!  I think we all deserve a break.  Have a safe and restful holiday.  I look forward to seeing you all next term.

Take care,

Tom

MPS LEADING THE WAY

By Lucy Mountain and Josie Field

As published in The Courier, 30/03/22

At MPS, leadership is very important throughout the school, particularly for our year sixes. MPS considers all the year sixes to be leaders in the school.

On the 21st of March, the year sixes went on an excursion to Shepparton to attend the GRIP (Generosity, Responsibility, Integrity, and People) Leadership Conference. The focus of the conference was Stepping Up Our Leadership. Students learnt about taking initiative, stepping up integrity and raising the standards of teamwork. They had the chance to meet, interact and share ideas with leaders from different schools.

This reporter asked some of the students about what they thought of the day.

Memphis explained, “Integrity is encouraging others to do the right thing.”

Lily added, “Give others tasks to suit their strengths, include everyone.”

Lacey described that, “You can show Integrity by being honest with others.”

Jake stated, “Show cooperation.”

The experience will help the grade sixes become stronger leaders this year, and for the years to come.
