Although the end of the year is winding down, the same cannot be said for our school. We still have many exciting activities and events in store for our students, who have continued to be a delight. We are so proud of the way that they conduct themselves, especially during this busy, busy, busy time! The Grade 6s Fun Day at Funfields was no exception, with all staff commenting on the beautiful behaviour of our students. It truly makes us (the staff) proud to be a part of our KWPS community! The Life Education sessions were also well received by the students last week as they were given the opportunity to revise important issues such as Cyber Safety (Grades 3-5), Drug Awareness (Grades 5/6) and Healthy Bodies/Healthy Minds (Grades P-2). The Life Education presenters acknowledged our students’ fantastic behaviour, focus and engagement. It is always nice to hear these positive affirmations from professionals who educate many different schools throughout the year.
This week at KWPS:
Gr.6 TRANSITION DAY
The state-wide transition day for grade 6s is this Tuesday 8th December. We hope that our grade 6s have a fantastic time as they take their first official step into the next phase of their education. We can’t wait to hear about your experience!
YEAR 6 GRADUATION
Our Year 6 graduation is this Wednesday 9th December with a starting time of 5pm for students. Parents will be invited back to school at 6.30pm to proceed with speeches and Grade 6 certificates. Reminder payment of $35 is now due.
XMAS CRAFT DAY
Our traditional Xmas Craft Day will be held this Friday 11th December. Thank you to our very talented and passionate art teacher, Leanne Mooney, who has once again, organised a wonderful range of art activities for our students. This year, we have a ‘touch’ of Aussie Christmas filter through some of our crafts. I am sure that it will be a fun and successful day, as usual!
REPORTS
End of year reports are being finalised by teachers over the next week and will be sent home next week. Thank you once again to the teachers for working hard on their reports and overcoming some technical glitches without too much stress!
Last week of Term 4:
MEET THE TEACHER ORIENTATION DAY
At KWPS we have a very effective process for grade placement. At the forefront of our decisions are what we as professionals believe is in the best interest of our children. A huge amount of teacher, teams and leadership time has been spent on student and parent friendship considerations. As professional educators we strive to make the right choices, taking into account all of the information we have about our students. Teachers have all of the academic, social and wellbeing information about every child and can make sound judgements to meet the needs of every student. Grade placements have now been finalised.
On Tuesday 15th December we timetable a 10:00am session for all our children to go to their 2021 classes where they will meet their teachers and classmates for next year. This is a great opportunity for children to see their new environment and prepare themselves for the coming school year.
PROACTIVITY FUN DAY
Proactivity Fun Day for the whole school will be held on Wednesday 16th December. The activities will predominantly take place outside so please ensure that your child/children have a hat to wear and have sunscreen on. Reminder forms and payment are due back by Wednesday 9th December.
CLASS PARTIES AND CLASS KK’s
Please keep an eye out for notes from your child’s class teacher/s informing you of details concerning class parties and class KK’s as the times and days for each class may be a little different!
COLOUR RUN
We are very fortunate to have been supplied with some FREE Colour Run powder from the Council. For an exciting and fun way to end the year, we will be holding a school Colour Run on the last day of Term (Thursday 17th December). Students will need to bring a white or light coloured t-shirt to wear. Please do not feel obliged to buy a new t-shirt – an old t-shirt will certainly serve the purpose!
TEACHER G-MAIL ACCOUNTS
Just a reminder to parents that the teacher g-mail accounts that were set up for remote learning will no longer be active as of the last day of school.
END OF YEAR – LAST DAY!
Our last day of school will be Thursday 17th December and school will finish at 3:30pm.
Friday 18th December will be a student free day.
CONGRATULATIONS!
Congratulations to Stefanie.H, Alanah.B, Mikaela.B and Bailey.JVV who completed their Zoom performance yesterday (Sunday) for the Whittlesea Music School. I ‘hear’ you all played very well.
