Welcome to Week 6, Term 4! There is certainly a lot happening as we move towards the second half of the term. Our teachers and school leaders are busily planning end of year events and student reports. Please keep an eye on the school calendar below to ensure you don’t miss out on any upcoming events. There are many opportunities to share events with our families and we look forward to seeing many of you here with us.
The NSW Department of Education and NSW Health are closely monitoring the latest developments in the covid landscape and should any guidelines change the plans we have in place, we will inform you as soon as we are able.
Student Leaders 2023
Congratulations to the 21 nominees for student leader in 2023 who presented their speeches courageously to all students in years 2-6 on Monday. Every single nominee spoke with passion and of their commitment to our school. The calibre of the speeches, combined with the personal attributes of each nominee make this a very exciting time for our school. Any one of these special students could capably fill a student leadership position next year. I am so very proud of each of you, as I’m sure your families are. More importantly, be proud of yourselves, the effort you put into your speeches and your valued place in our school as our leaders of tomorrow.
Thank you to Mrs Fleming for coordinating the speeches and voting. Thank you also to Mrs Nicole Johnson, School Administration Manager and Mrs Lisa Dening, Vice President Hammondville Public School P&C, for counting the votes yesterday afternoon with Mrs Fleming and myself to ensure the count was conducted transparently and with integrity.
The 2023 student leaders will be announced on Presentation Day, where they will receive their leadership badges.
Staffing
It is with great excitement that I inform our community that Mrs Rebekah Murray has been successful in gaining a relieving Principal role at Newbridge Heights Public School for 2023. I know you will agree with me that Mrs Murray is an exceptional leader and will thrive in this temporary role for next year. The community at Newbridge Heights don’t yet know how lucky they are to have someone with such integrity and passion to lead their school next year. While we will miss Mrs Murray terribly, we know that she is more than ready for this next step in her career and we wish her all the very best.
I am thrilled to also announce that Ms Sharon Robinson has been successful in gaining a classroom teacher position at Ajuga School for 2023. Ms Robinson is an exceptional teacher with a passion for working with students with additional learning needs. Ajuga School is a School for Special Purposes (SSP), serving a student population who learn with austism and complex trauma. Ms Robinson will be a strong asset to their school and we wish her all the very best in this wonderful learning journey for her.
Mrs Madeline Elliott will commence her maternity leave next Friday, 25 November. We cannot wait to hear of and share her happy news of the safe arrival of her little bundle of joy. While Mrs Elliott is on leave for the final weeks of the year, we welcome back Mrs Adrianna Mazloum from maternity leave. Mrs Mazloum is an experienced and long standing member of our permanent teaching team. She has previously held the position of Assistant Principal, Early Stage 1, so joins K/1 Green with much knowledge and a long history of experience in the early years of education.
Have a fabulous fortnight. Hope to see you soon
Take care
Jodie Clark - Principal
