Term 2 Week 1, 2023

Educating for over 100 years

Welcome to Term 2

Principals Report Week 1

It was great to see the students back at school this week ready for another big term. I hope everyone had a great break. Looking at what we have coming up this term I am getting a little excited.

Farewell- I would like to take this opportunity to wish Ms Suzie (Suzanne McCulloch) and Webby (Phillip Webb) all the best. They are moving back to Queensland to be closer to family. Thankyou for everything you have done for the staff, students, and school community at Bribbaree Public School. You will definitely be missed. All the best.

Long Service- Mrs Sirol has taken long service leave for the rest of this Term. Mr Hamish Walton will be filling in for Mrs Sirol for the remainder of the Term. Mr Walton is no stranger to Bribbaree Public School as he relieved as Principal late last year.

Staff Development Day- On Monday Bribbaree Public School hosted a Professional Learning Conference for over 150 Teachers in the Temora Network. The conference was run by Hawker Brownlow and they provided a keynote speaker for the day. It was great to see the Memorial Hall full to the brim with people again.

ANZAC Day 2023- Thankyou to all the students that marched on ANZAC Day. Anzac Day, 25 April, is one of Australia’s most important national occasions. It marks the anniversary of the first major military action fought by Australian and New Zealand forces during the First World War. When war broke out in 1914 Australia had been a federated nation for only 13 years, and its government was eager to establish a reputation among the nations of the world. When Britain declared war in August 1914 Australia was automatically placed on the side of the Commonwealth. In 1915 Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula in order to open the Dardanelles to the allied navies. The ultimate objective was to capture Constantinople (now Istanbul), the capital of the Ottoman Empire, an ally of Germany.

Parent/Teacher/Student 3-way meeting- If you would like a parent/teacher meeting over the next 2 weeks I will ask you to call the office and arrange an appointment. I will be available Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Looking forward to catching up with all parents over the next couple of weeks.

GRIP Leadership- each year our Year 5 and Year 6 students travel to Wagga Wagga to undertake a leadership training day. The GRIP Student Leadership Conference is unique in that it concentrates specifically on training student leaders for their role as SCHOOL LEADERS. The style, topics, and content of this conference all focus on what the students can do RIGHT NOW.

Skoolbag App-  Newsletters and absent notes are within the click of a button. If any parent requires help in navigating the app or would like an update on how to use it please come into the school on a Friday morning and Miss Darcy will happily take you through the process.

Before and After School Care (BASC) ‘Their Care’ - All the information regarding the Before and After School Care (BASC) has been posted into the Skoolbag App. The program Their Care has commenced this week and I encourage all families to register their children for the program. The program and funding was made possible because there was an identified need from all families for a service for after school. Please register if you are interested in Before and After School Care. During the afternoon sessions children will be provided afternoon tea as well as develop life skills, friendships, confidence and creativity through play.

Young Small School Athletics Carnival- The Young Small School athletics carnival is on this Wednesday the 3rd May. All lunch orders from last Term will be honoured. This week we hope to address all athletic disciplines at lunch time. I still have a 10 Zooper Dooper challenge up for grabs for whoever can jump to the mark in the sandpit. Please sign the permission form on Skoolbag for your child to attend. The school bus will be leaving the school at 7:50am if your child requires transportation.

Young Small School Cross Country- Bribbaree Public School will be hosting the YSS Cross Country carnival at Ben Hall’s cave on Friday the 12th May. The P&C are catering on the day and are looking for home cooking i.e slices, cakes etc.. as well as parent helpers for the canteen on the day. If you will be available to help in any capacity that would be very much appreciated. Please contact the school of your availability.  It is a unique setting and a memorable experience for all participants.

Reminder- Home Readers- Please send home readers back each day to be changed. We are getting into a routine of changing readers each morning.

Water Bottle – Please ensure your child brings a water bottle to school each day.

Easter Hat Parade/end of Term 1 Assembly- thankyou to all parents/carers/grandparents who came to the end of Term 1 assembly. The students really appreciate the support especially when they have put a great deal of effort into presenting items. A big thankyou also to the Easter Bunny who went out of his way to make the day memorable.

School Garden- We will look to purchase and propagate seedlings for our winter vegetable patch over the next couple of weeks.

Happy Birthday Aminah!

Crunch and Sip

At 10am each day we stop for crunch and sip. This is not an opportunity to eat fruit bars, yoghurt, chips or biscuits. It is an opportunity to have a drink of water as well as eat a piece of fruit. Please provide your child with a piece of fruit.

Happy 8th Birthday Robert!

Anzac Day March

Marching is a way to commemorate and show our thanks to the Australian and New Zealand soldiers that fought for our country. Thank you to those who marched, you represented our school well.
