The NSW Department of Education has advised that while there have been some easing of restrictions within schools, there are still a number of safeguards in place to ensure the wellbeing of students, staff and the community.
Changes that came into effect on Monday 15 June include:
- No requirement for physical distancing for students.
- External providers of student support services (counsellors, family support workers etc) are able to recommence.
- School Photos can proceed (ours are booked for Wednesday 21 October, 2020).
There is still a requirement for all adults to maintain physical distancing (1.5m) and as such we are asking parents to continue restricting visits to the school.
Please continue to consider dropping students off outside the school grounds. Our canteen is continuing to operate each Tuesday and Friday, although we are unable to have other volunteers on site at this stage.
Our enhanced cleaning allocation is continuing. Further advice regarding restrictions in schools can be downloaded by clicking on the link below, labelled Face to Face Learning Guidelines for Parents.
Tell Them From Me Survey - Students
Over the next two weeks, our Stage 3 students (Years 5 and 6) will be asked to complete a survey on the opinions and attitudes towards school. In Semester 2 we will be asking parents to complete a similar survey to assist with the next school planning cycle. Today Stage 3 received a note where you can opt out if you do not wish for your child to be involved. The survey will be completed online at school and all answers remain confidential.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss the survey.
Assessing and Reporting
We currently have an increase in the number of casual teachers working in our school. This is to provide time for our classroom teachers to perform assessments to ensure our upcoming school reports are as meaningful to parents as possible. Under normal circumstances teachers complete assessments in the two hours they receive off class in their weekly Release from Face to Face (RFF) allocation. However, the home learning period has meant we have had a much shorter time frame for student assessment. To maintain consistency we always try to ensure we use casual teachers who are familiar to our students, although this is proving more difficult at the moment as our regular casuals are in high demand. Teachers are working closely with the casual teacher covering their class for the assessment period to ensure usual routines and structures are followed.
School reports will be sent home during Week 3 of Term 3.
Late Arrivals
Thank you for ensuring students who are unwell are kept at home. A reminder that students are required to be signed in at the office if your child arrives at school after the 9:10am bell. In this event, please ensure your child enters the classroom quickly and with minimal disruption to the other students. We kindly ask that parents do not enter classrooms at this time as learning time has commenced. A reminder that student supervision commences at 8:45am.
Have a great week,
Rod White
