We Acknowledge the Gunditjmara people, the Traditional Owners of the land on which we are gathered today.
We respect and honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, past, present and future. We acknowledge their stories, traditions and living cultures on this land and commit to building a brighter future together.
Dear Parents and Carers,
The wintery weather this week has reminded us of what is to come over the next couple of months. A reminder to check that your children have jumpers and coats for outdoors.
We have 6 teachers isolating this week with COVID which has presented some challenges, but we are determined to remain operating as normal as possible. Masks must be worn by students who are close household contacts.
This week is Volunteer's Week. Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers who support our school community in so many ways. The National Better Together Volunteer campaign is a chance for all of us to celebrate and recognise the vital work of volunteers and to say thank you.
Kind regards,
Olga Lyons, Principal
Enrolments opened on Monday 16th May and close on Friday June 24.
Our Parent Information session on Wednesday night was very well attended and we extend an invitation for prospective parents to attend our Discovery Tour on May 24 from 9.00am - 11.00am.
5/6 have been very busy this term. We have been enjoying our sporting opportunities - Moyne Athletics, Cross Country, Moyne Cross Country and we are all looking forward to Winter Sports next Friday May 27th.
In our classroom we have been focusing on using high modality words to persuade our readers to agree with our opinions. This fits beautifully with our inquiry topic where we are investigating the three levels of Government - Federal, State and Local. We have learnt that politicians need to use lots of high modality words to persuade their constituents to vote for them. Some of us were lucky enough to meet our local Federal Minister, Mr Dan Tehan. Mr Tehan is the minister for Trades, Tourism and Investment. He will be running for the seat of Wannon in this Saturday’s election.
In music / drama we have been learning ‘shuffle dancing’. We have learnt the running man step, the diagonal running man and the T step. We will be performing our synchronized dances next week.
Welcome Home Chooks
We have new chickens, Brownie, Skinny, Koroit and Kirkstall, names that are still in dispute, have made a new home or should I say nest, at St Patrick's Primary School. They arrived last Sunday and immediately made themselves at home. This exciting delivery came at a cost though, chicken Yambuk, was moved off to a farm to live the rest of his days and her friend, Toes, is now the only original chicken left in the coop. We hope that the new chickens enjoy their home as much as we enjoy them.
