CONGRATULATIONS TO YEAR 12 ON THEIR SCHOOL FORMAL CELEBRATION

Year 12 with their Formal Dates

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Ps 118.24

Sometimes you just have to revel in the awesomeness of the Lord and the day He gives us. Please take the time to read this edition of Tidings and soak in how good our God is to us in Jesus, and how He loves us and provides for us.

Congratulations to the RichMo-Bros. I trust you enjoyed matching moustaches to the mugs.

Congratulations to Year 12 on a brilliant year – may God bless you as you go.

Congratulations to the high schoolers for completing this year and enjoying O Week.

Please remember that Week 6 signals a new structure to our mornings. To create a little more time for awesome learning opportunity there will be no more morning assembly for Primary or morning homeroom for Secondary. Classes will begin at 8.50 now so please, if you arrive late sign in at the school office.

I will let the pictures tell the rest of the story this week. What a blessing it is to be involved with such a wonderful community.

 Good tidings.

THE MOVEMBER - RICHMO-BROS

Dear RCC Community,

This year as a school, we're raising awareness this Movember for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives.

We are passionate about all people living their fullest and healthiest lives and so we're inviting all men in the Richmond Christian College Community to grow a Mo for the month of November. We are also inviting them to share their experiences, wisdom and teachable mo-ments in their lives to encourage one another.

If you'd like to join us, head to https://au.movember.com/register

and create your own Movember account. Then join the team "RichMo-Bros" to unite together as a community for this cause.

This team page is where we would love for you share any articles, photos, videos or stories of what helps you live life to the full once a week through the month of November. Let's get around each other and encourage each other to live fuller, healthier lives.

O WEEK AT RICHMOND

Orientation Week

This week the high school initiated a new event called Orientation Week, a program designed to mark the conclusion of exam season and effectively transition our students into their new year levels for 2020. Over three days the high school students participated in a variety of activities to celebrate their school and surrounding community and prepare for the commencement of new classes in Week 6. We welcomed the incoming Year 7 cohort including several new student enrolments for 2020 so they could get to know their new peers and teachers, and be introduced to the structure and culture of high school at RCC. The event commenced on Wednesday with Community Service Day which saw our Year 7 students baking cookies to take to St Andrew's Village with Year 3. Years 8-10 participated in a variety of endeavours, including tending to Flat Rock Beach with Coastcare, wrapping presents for the Salvation Army, serving in classes and helping with grounds work around the school. They concluded the day with a love-bombing event, decorating the RCC grounds with messages of hope. On Thursday students from Years 6-11 came together for Orientation Day which was also run as a house challenge. A very full program began with an opening assembly followed by students meeting their new homerooms and competing for the title of lamest homeroom rap. Year 6 students met their future Year 10 buddies for a morning tea, after which students separated into Stage groups for introductory sessions run by our teachers. After lunch there was a chapel service followed by the climactic event of the day: the Amazing Race. Students competed in six teams to follow clues and perform challenges around the school. The winning house went home with tasty prizes. Finally today Years 6-11 have come together once more to spend a party day at Wet'n'Wild as a concluding celebration for a full and rewarding academic year. Thanks go out to all the staff and parent helpers who assisted in so many ways over these past three days, and to the students for their genuine love for one another, their willing service and their sense of fun. Congratulations on a wonderful week.

O Week Shenanigans

JAPANESE CONFERENCING

This week Years 5 and 6 had the opportunity to speak with a year 5 and 6 class from Oguni Primary School in Japan. Year 6 spoke with their class on Tuesday and Year 5 contacted their class on Thursday. The feedback from both the Japanese classes and the RCC classes has been overwhelmingly positive.

We must thank Ako Kennedy, (mother of May from Year 6)  whose contribution to getting this happening was invaluable. While the lessons were short in length, 50 minutes each, they were the result of months of planning and work in both countries and Ako was there helping the whole way. We could not have done without her. Thank you, Ako!

SHOUT OUT FOR A NEW SCHOOL BANKING COORDINATOR

We are looking for a new School Banking Coordinator. Thank you to Alison Brown for all you have done for this program, and to Jessica Edwards.  If you are interested in coordinating the school banking program, please call the School Office.  It's not a difficult job to do and won't take up much of your time, but it is very beneficial for the students who like to save their money.  Alison Brown will also give you some training.  We look forward to hearing from you.
