As we pass the half way mark of term one it is nice to reflect on the amazing things that have been undertaken so far this year and start to think about some of the exciting things that lie ahead.
Looking back over the first month of school, 40 Kindergarten students have begun their educational journey with us here at Scarborough Primary School, with their laughter and smiles far outweighing the minimal trepidation and tears. At the other end of the school, our Year 5/6 students have all become part of Leadership Teams, selecting to be either a House Captain, a Sports Captain or a member of the Sustainability or Health and Well Being committees. They also participated in a Leadership Day at HBF Stadium where they listened to some inspirational guest speakers and engaged in activities to develop their leadership skills.
Community wise, we have had a very successful AGM with the P&C and are in the process of finalising the filling of vacant positions on the School Board. This will be completed within the next week, in time for the first board meeting for the year which is scheduled for March 20. Look out for details of our new board members in the next newsletter. We have also had a number of students engaging in Friday morning surf lessons, despite some rather chilly conditions on occasion!
Moving forward, our Year 5/6 students are off to Bickley next week for their school camp where they will spend 3 days experiencing some exciting team building activities. This will be followed by Harmony Week in Week 7. Mrs Salt has been busy coordinating a range of activities for students and parents to participate in during this week. More information on Harmony Week can be found further on in this newsletter. Finally, Term 1 will conclude with three way conferences with classroom teachers in Weeks 9 and 10. This will be a lovely opportunity to end the term by hearing about the successes that your children have had so far this year. More information around booking times will be coming from class teachers over the next few weeks.
