From the Principal

This is the year and term we will all remember as a very different time for education and life as we knew it. There have been challenges and frustration for everyone but from this there has also been joy, new skills, resilience and banding together as a community to support each other in this very unusual time. During this period of lockdown we have all have the opportunity to slow down as there were less places to go but somehow we were busier than ever as our minds were overloaded with new and different responsibilities. We embraced new learning and different ways to be even if it was a little scary! We have learned that material things while lovely are not what most of us crave and miss but it is hugs, personal interactions, socialising and celebrations with loved ones that we are missing. It was never about the fancy birthday dinner or the smashed avo at the cafe, not the bottle of wine over the kitchen bench or the backyard bbq. We have learned that it was about being together at the birthday dinner, sharing a story with your best friend at the cafe, chats with your mum in the kitchen and watching the kids play in the backyard with their friends at the family bbq. This has been a time for reflection and bonding with those that matter the most, a time to stay connected in different ways, driving by for a birthday wave, a zoom catch up and remote learning, oh and maybe a tiny bit of online shopping! Next week we all get to come back to school this will be an emotion fueled time for all. Some will be jumping out of their skin  with excitement , maybe a little anxiety for others but most likely a mix of both for the majority of us. Let's continue to support each other through the return to school plan. Kindness, Understanding, Respect and Resilience will support our community through this new chapter of an unforgettable history making term 2 2020.

Return to School

HSS staff are very excited for ALL students to be returning to school next Tuesday 26th May. Monday has been declared a pupil free day by the state government to allow for teachers to prepare for classroom learning. Buses will resume as normal Tuesday morning. Please ensure your child is fit and healthy before sending them to school. Each campus will undertake a midday clean by our cleaning company. We have a sufficient supply of hand sanitiser and we  have implemented increased hand washing practices. The buses have also increased their cleaning regime.

Zart Art Competition

HSS had some amazing entries into the Zart Art competition, hopefully everyone had a peep online to see the outstanding Art entries by our students. We had 2 honorable mentions- Tahlia Mitchell year 3 and Keana Williams-Hill year 10 have both received $50.00 Art prize packs for their entries. Well done girls you make us very proud!
