Welcome to week 8, Term 3.
We hope this Newsletter finds you safe and well.
What a fantastic past 8 weeks we have had here at Wyong Public School. We have been busy creating a safer, more aesthetically pleasing environment for your children to enjoy with some maintenance upgrades carried out around the school grounds. The majority of the work is now complete, with the exclusion of the automatic sensor front gates looking to be done closer to the end of term. We are looking also at other projects around the school to improve safety and allow more space for students to play. We thank students and staff for their patience and co-operation whilst these upgrades were being done, it was greatly appreciated.
Thank you also to the parents/carers and students that are following the procedures put in place to keep us all safe. By ensuring that your child doesn’t present at school with cold/flu symptoms and if they do develop over the course of the day, that they promptly collect them from sick bay. Just a reminder, that if you are coming to the office to collect your child that you still are required to sign a register to declare that you are on site, and that you are willing and able to follow health advice and social distancing requirements as well.
Last Friday we held the Primary Athletics (field) events here on site, it was a great morning and fun was had by all. It was a chance to allow the students to try their hand at some other athletic events that were unable to be completed on the original day of the Athletics carnival. The Infants will have their day this coming Friday, which they are looking very forward to. They are being conducted separately in order to comply with current COVID restrictions.
In more exciting news, we are holding our annual Scholastic Book Fair next week, from Monday, 14th September 2020 to Thursday, 24th September 2020. Restrictions have been put in place however, in order for our school to safely proceed with a book fair this year. During week 9 (Monday 14th-Friday 18th) students will have the opportunity to view items from the Book Fair and complete their wish lists. The opening hours for the library are 8:30am till 8:55am daily, where children are able to visit and make purchases at the Book Fair each day before school commences. Alternatively, they can make purchases during their usual scheduled library visiting time slot. It is important to note that if selected books are in stock, they will be delivered to the child’s classroom, however if the book required is out of stock at time of purchase, orders will be placed and items delivered to your child’s classroom when they arrive at school. Additionally, our ScopeIT digital literacy program that had to be rescheduled previously is running again throughout this week, and weeks 9 & 10 also.
Just to recap also, in regard to Kindergarten 2021 Transition programs we are still restricted in what we can do. Please, if you or someone you know has a child ready to start in Kindergarten in 2021 either call the office or alternatively come in and fill out the appropriate paperwork. Once we have put a plan in place for how to operate this transition period within COVID restrictions we will be in contact with parents/carers on how to move forward. Thank you for your co-operation and patience.
