Wingham Public School Bulletin

Term 4 Week 6

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Last Monday our school was privileged to host Lisa Muir, the Executive Director, School Performance and Rick Clissold Director, Educational Leadership, Taree Network. Ms Muir and Mr Clissold met with executive staff and then visited classrooms to witness mathematics lessons in action. Our visitors were met at the front entrance by our student leaders and in an email sent to me after the visit Ms Muir stated “Your student leaders who represented on the day are truly proud ambassadors for public education. Please pass on my thanks, appreciation and congratulations.” After visiting classrooms Ms Muir also indicated “The passionate and positive energy that your staff have for their work in improving student outcomes is evident”. She commented that it was obvious we have a warm and welcoming school.

Racism and racist behaviour are not tolerated in NSW public schools. Everyone at Wingham Public School – students, staff, parents, carers and community members – is expected to treat others fairly and with respect, and to behave in ways which do not promote racism in the school community.

If your child is experiencing racial discrimination at school, you should encourage them to report it to a teacher or the school’s Anti-Racism Contact Officer, or you may report it on your child’s behalf.

ASSEMBLY ITEM - 5/6S

Last Friday, 5/6S presented their assembly item titled ‘The Long Trip to Australia’. The play involved the students taking on the roles of convicts, soldiers, sailors, a ships Captain and even a Courtroom Judge.

The students presented two scenes, one in the courtroom of the honourable Sir Drew Process and the other aboard the Prince of Wales as it sailed towards Botany Bay.

The students worked very hard and the play was an enormous success.  I could not have been prouder of their teamwork and enthusiasm.

I would like to thank Alisha Ward, Danielle Hills and Karley Spencer for their assistance with doing hair and makeup on the day and a special mention of appreciation to Judith Byrne for making all of the convict outfits.
