School Board

We are still looking to fill 1 parent representative vacancy on our School Board. It will be of a 2-year tenure and will commence as soon as it is filled. You will need to be a parent at Scarborough Primary School from 2020 until 2022 to be eligible.

Should there be more than one nomination, all parents will be offered the opportunity to vote. Candidates will then be asked to provide a 250 word brief and a portrait style photograph to include on the voting slip. New members of the Board will undertake training and will have a mentor allocated to assist with induction onto the Board.  If you are interested, please email to Sarah.Dawson@education.wa.edu.au or express your interest in person to the front office. Nominations close at 3:00pm, Monday 14 September 2020.

More information on the Board can be found on our school website.

Our Board meet again next Wednesday, 9 September, where they will be engaging with further planning for the 2021 Business Plan.

All meetings are open to the public. If you are considering nominating for a position now or further down the track you are welcome to come to a meeting first to get an idea of what it is all about.

As always, if you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Sarah Dawson

Principal

Hello from the School Chaplain!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and outline my role as School Chaplain at Scarborough Primary School. My name is Nikki Harvey, I am a Scarborough local and I am a former teacher and mum of three. I have had the pleasure of meeting many of the wonderful Scarborough PS students and I look forward to getting to know everyone better over the coming weeks and months.

As the School Chaplain, I am part of the Student Services Team and my role is to provide pastoral care and support to the students, staff and parents/carers, to help with the well-being of the whole school community. My office provides a safe and confidential place for the students to talk about any worries or issues they may have. These may be friendship issues, anxiety relating to COVID-19, issues relating to grief and loss, family separation or anything else. By using games and fun strategies, I also try to help the students with social and emotional skills such as resilience and emotional regulation. I work with the students one-on-one, in small groups and in the classroom.

I am at the school every Wednesday and Friday. Please feel free to contact me for a chat via the main school phone number. Students can request to see me by writing their name in an appointment file in the front office or be referred via their classroom teacher.

Dad Joke Friday Competition

Our sixth entry in the competition:

I asked an electrician to fix an electrical issue at my house. He re-fused.

If there are any Dads out there that want to contribute an appropriate dad joke, please send them to;

 josh.dorozenko@education.wa.edu.au.

We will be having a vote at the end of year for the best Dad joke with the winner receiving a Bunnings gift voucher. Are you going to be the punniest Dad at Scarborough Primary?

P&C News

Hello SPS Families

Thank you to everyone who supported the P&C Father’s Day stall. It was a huge success and we nearly sold out on the first day! We’re sure all SPS dads will be spoiled this Father’s Day!

Crazy Hair Day

Friday 25th September, the last day of Term 3, is Crazy Hair Day! Go wild and crazy with hairspray, wigs, scrunchies etc!

Crazy Hair Day is a fundraising initiative so a gold coin donation would be appreciated. A P&C representative will go around to the classrooms collecting the money. Thank you for your support, and we can’t wait to see all the wild creations!

Next Meeting

The next P&C General Meeting will be held Monday 21 September at 6.30pm in the school library. We will be discussing the upgrade to the school library and Booktober.

We welcome all Scarborough Primary families and community members to come along. It is a gold coin donation to become a paying member of the P&C.  Only a financial member can participate in the democratic decision making processes of a P&C Association, so please remember your gold coin!

Canteen

The canteen will be open as normal on Friday 18 September for the last day of the Faction Festival. P&C will have muffins available to purchase in the afternoon as a special treat.

Just a little reminder that we are still looking for canteen volunteers.  If you have any Friday mornings available this term (or throughout the year), Laura would love some assistance in the SPS canteen.

Follow the link below to pick a day and lock it in.

Visit our SignUp page: https://signup.com/go/bQePHtS

You will be taken through to our dedicated canteen page, and you can choose the days that work best for you.

Please also note that all canteen orders need to be placed via QuickCliq prior to 8.30am on Friday. Cash is not accepted.
