Term 1, Week 9

Learning Conversations

This year we will be holding student-led learning conversations instead of parent – teacher interviews. The difference in the format provides the student the opportunity to be involved in the discussion about their growth/progress as a learner. During the conversation your child will show evidence of their learning (journal/folio, photos, work samples) and provide information to clarify what they have learnt, what are the next steps in their learning and what progress they are making or support they require to achieve their goals.

Learning conversations will be held from Monday 29th March to Thursday 1st April and will be 15 minutes duration.

We look forward to sharing your child's progress with you.

Justine Langley,

Deputy Principal

Nihongo No Kyoushitsu kara News! 日本語 News from Japanese Classroom

We started our year with the learning of Zodiac animals’ race. The students created their own ushi to celebrate the ‘Ushi Doshi’ which means 2021 is the year of the Bull/Ox.

Enriched learning has been taking place in Japanese lessons and students are showing great enthusiasm in improving their Japanese skills. Room 11 and Room 13 have been learning the numbers, colours and animals in Japanese.

What have we been learning in The Arts?

The Year 6/7 students have been working on drawing Dragon's Eyes and focusing on their shading technique.     See photos below.

Sun Safety Awareness

Room 7 students have been learning about Sun Safety and the effects of the sun on our skin in Health. To demonstrate the effects the sun has they conducted a sausage skin experiment. Can you guess the results?

Garden Club

Every Friday lunchtime our students have the opportunity to participate in Garden Club activities. Recently students have made terrariums, revamped the bee watering holes, and tended to our garden with loving care. Lots of teamwork happens plus students have fun and get creative as you can see by the photos below.

YELP - Belair National Park

On Tuesday 23rd March our Eco Leaders participated in a Young Environmental Leader Program (YELP) excursion to Belair National Park. They met up with students from schools all over Adelaide to discuss and compare the strategies their schools are using to be more eco-friendly and environmentally sustainable. They will be implementing some of the ideas that they investigated in Gardening Club as well as some whole school projects.  Thank you Miss Cordell and Mrs Goh for helping on the day.  Please see photos below.
