SAS Recognition Week

This week, 26 -30 August is School Administrative and Support (SAS) Staff Recognition Week. This week is a time when the school community – teachers, parents and students are encouraged to acknowledge and to say ‘thank you’ to the often unsung heroes in our school.

 “Thank you”

Mrs McDonald (Business Manager) Mrs Patrick (School Administrative Manager), Mrs Goodhew, Mrs Chan-Woerlein and Mrs Williams (School Administration Officers), Mrs Kuar, Mrs Wagner, and Mrs Moore (School Learning Support Officers), Mrs Moore (Library Assistant) and Mr Lee (General Assistant).

To each of you, thank you for the valuable work you perform and your contribution to supporting great teaching and learning outcomes in Kellyville Ridge Public School.  We hope that you have a great week and know that your smile, your thoughtfulness and efficiency makes Kellyville Ridge PS ‘The Place To Be.’

Book Character Parade

One of our celebrations during Book Week was the Book Character Parade. It was great to see so many of our students passionate about reading and discussing their favourite titles and authors as they showcased their best-loved characters. Thank you to those community members who came to support the love of reading and the students' favourite characters. Thank you to Mrs V-L. Smith and Mrs G. Kaur for their organisation of this year's successful event.  Thank you also to Mrs N. Dowling for her superb musical co-ordination representing the characters the students love.

RoboCup

This year we entered our first 9 Teams into the RoboCup Rescue Challenge.  Congratulations Sohaaib, Ben A, Ariana C, Riley C, Ruhee D, Jay G, Nathan H, Hayden L, Ritwik M, Kaitlyn M, Rebeen M, Rhea N, Ayman N, Shanyni R, Jackson SH, Henil S, Chloe W. Thank you to Mr Easton and Mr Haworth for working with our students to critically think, collaborate and problem solve their robots, sensors and coding to navigate the challenge courses.  All of our teams showed determination and resilience to represent Kellyville Ridge P.S well.  We look forward to competing again next year with even more finesse.

Norwest Basketball Challenge

Congratulations to our 4 Basketball teams in their stellar effort yesterday at the Norwest Basketball Challenge. Thank you to Mrs Carr and Mr Johns for coaching these teams and leading our Junior Boys and Junior Girls to be overall champions.  Well done everyone!

Enrolling K-6 students for 2020 NOW!

I have already had to submit the anticipated numbers for KRPS for 2020. For families with children in years K-5 there is nothing you need to do if you intend on being at KRPS next year. Where I do need your assistance is if you know any families in our catchment area that are planning to enrol for 2020 but as yet have not done so. Please encourage them to do so as a matter of urgency. Submitting the numbers was the first step in planning for next year and these numbers impact the school's teach and overall staff allocation and funding so it is important to try and get an accurate indication where possible. Obviously things may change between now and the beginning of next year. Additionally, if you are planning to leave the school at the end of the year (this does not include the current year 6 students) please send the school an email with that information to assist with our planning.  Thank you for your assistance in ensuring our school can start

Tell Them From Me Surveys

For students in years 4-6, staff and parents will have the opportunity to complete one of the Tell Them From Me suite of surveys. These surveys are completed at many schools and look at a range of topics. These include wellbeing, extra-curricular activities, engagement, and inclusivity to name a few of the areas. The survey does take about 20- 30 minutes to complete, however, the data collated allows the school to strategically plan. The survey will be available in a couple of weeks and we will send out more information closer to the date.

Father’s Day

This Sunday is one of the most important days of the year - Father’s Day. It is a day to acknowledge the valuable role fathers, grandfathers, uncles and significant male figures play in children’s lives. I truly hope all fathers have a great Sunday. To celebrate this day the school held a Father’s Day breakfast on Tuesday morning.  It was a fantastic event and a wonderful buzz to start the day. Thank you must go to Mrs V-L Smith, Mrs Marsden, Mr Marsden and their team for putting together the event. Congratulations to Roger M and Deepak B on winning the Bunnings vouchers.

Enrolment Policy

There has been some small changes to the Enrolment Policy for the NSW Department of Education. Please click the link below to assist you with these changes. If you have any questions about your personal circumstances please feel free to contact me to discuss your individual situation.

Save the Date: Saturday 30 November – 4pm - 8pm - Twilight Markets

If you are one of our families who has a small business that would like to support the Twilight Markets in the way of donations for Lucky Star stalls and raffles or holding a promotional stall, please contact the P&C Fundraising committee through the school.

Global Art Competition 2019

Congratulations to Emily L, who competed in the 2019 Global Art National Competition (Theme: My Appreciation) and came in Champion in Group B for her age category. She will be representing Australia for the International Competition held in Singapore this year on 1 December 2019. We wish her all the very best and look forward to seeing her next entry

Don’t forget every day to remind your children how special they are and how much you love them.

Kind regards,

Mrs Rhonda Gosman

Ridges Friendly Debating Competition

Well done to our Year 5 Debating Team involving Sienna Toh, Arden Bible, Ariana Castaneda and Shamaila Faisal who successfully won their debate against Riverbank Public School on Wednesday at the Ridges Friendly Debating Competition. These four girls demonstrated a strong front on the topic that ‘Schools should provide lunch and recess to all its students’. They spoke really well and confidently throughout their debate, whilst providing some solid rebuttals that consistently made sure that their negative view points were portrayed toward its audience.

Congratulations Girls! You worked really hard and deserve this great outcome!

Every Student Every Voice

At the end of this term the SRC team are having a Colours for Cancer fundraising fun day. We will be donating the money we raise to try and help find a cure for cancer. On this day we will be wearing our favourite team colours and raising awareness. It will be a bright and colourful fun day. September is the Kids Cancer Awareness month that we are supporting. If you wear mufti, you need to bring in a donation as it goes to a great cause.

Year 6 Token Day 2020

Step right up, step right up! Year 6 token day is fast approaching. Token day will be held on Tuesday 17 September, in Week 9 this term. Students will be allowed to wear mufti on the day. Year 6 students are busy preparing their mini fete style fundraiser. The proceeds of the day help support the Year 6 end of year farewell and this year we would also like to provide a gift back to the school.

Tokens will go on sale at the end of Week 7 and all throughout Week 8. Tokens will be sold in two bundles, $5 for 15 tokens and $10 for 30 tokens. The Year 6 students will be collecting the money and recording how many tokens are purchased. The Tokens will be given to the students on the day by their classroom teacher.

This is one of the major highlights of the school year and something our students have looked forward to for many years. We hope that everyone can support our Year 6 by purchasing some tokens.
