Dear Parent / Carer,

We are seeing some exciting additions to our school. In early 2021 our school was targeted, because of the low level technology within it. This review meant some significant changes needed to happen to bring our teaching and learning up to date. So last year the Department allocated extra laptops to our school and we underwent a massive connectivity upgrade. This year as a follow on from this all our learning spaces that did not already have an interactive whiteboard, were supplied with one. Each classroom now has an interactive whiteboard with a camera, so that students can access more future focused learning. We have also been given some extra funding to ensure that the classrooms remain flexible learning spaces and some new furniture has been ordered to accommodate this.  As our rooms already had top quality TV screens in them, we have been able to begin relocating those to other areas within our school, where students will be able to continue to use them to engage in specialised programs. This means that Mrs Behl-Shanks'  sneaky room now has access to one of these top quality large screens. I would like to thank our teachers for their patience.  From the moment we were identified as a target school to its total completion , will have nearly been two years. I have included some photos of the new screens and we hope to get you all in to have a closer look at them in action soon.

This weekend, I fell even more in love with Jamberoo PS than ever before. Yesterday we held our working bee and the results where phenomenal.

To thank individuals, would leave people out, but to list our collective achievements will ensure you have a good picture of all of the hard work.

  • The front gardens. Thanks for all the pruning and removal of green waste. Our school's facade now reflects the wonderful students within.
  • The Sports Shed. This has been bagged, tagged and sorted and a firm message to our sports leaders to please put things away where they came from.
  • The Sports Garage. - Now a miracle has been performed here. As you will see in some of the photos. The people who working in this area, removed all of the contents of the shed, cleaned tidied, removed deceased critters and then still had the energy to put it all back in a highly organised manner.
  • The Cubby House - All boards have been mended or replaced, floors sanded and the entire thing repainted. It looks brand new.
  • The sandpit- People power moved 3 cubic meters of top quality sand from the outdoor classroom at the bottom of the school right up to the sandpit.
  • The garden - Cardboard laid, Weed matting laid, mulch applied, weeding done and new top soil applied. Incredible!
  • The outdoor classroom - 5 cubic meters of soil moved to for newly constructed raised garden beds. Planting of bush tucker and indigenous plans and some further spreading of mulch.

The results of the day far exceeded my own expectations - thank you to every one who came along and worked tirelessly throughout the day. I know I said I wouldn't single anyone out, but I would like to acknowledge my mum Jill who kept us in all in tea, coffee, cold water and sausage sandwiches all day. Thanks for helping me help another one of my schools.  We look forward to having another working bee in the summer months.

Regards,

Ms Greta Lewis

2022 Music Night

The Jamberoo Public School annual music night was held on Thursday 16 June, with a large and very enthusiastic crowd in attendance. Students under the guidance of Mrs McCormack had been preparing short performances to showcase the creative and performing arts talents of Jamberoo Public School. Mrs Martin had been assisting with music and technology to ensure that the night was a success.

During the evening, we witnessed comedians, singers, dancers and very talented musicians. This is an amazing event that supports our students to build on their performance skills.

Thank you to all who attended this wonderful evening and also to Grandma Nell for photographing all our performers.

Last week we were presented with this beautiful painting by Lloyd Hornsby a well known Aboriginal artist. The painting was collected by the family of Kyle from Year 5. Kyle's older sister Kyia also attended Jamberoo PS up until last year. Kyle and his family would like the Jamberoo school community to enjoy this artwork on behalf of him and his family.
