PDHPE Syllabus

“Encouraging students to take positive action to protect and enhance their own and others’ health, safety and wellbeing…” - PDHPE Syllabus Rationale

In-line with the new PDHPE syllabus, we will be sharing some tips for keeping kids healthy, happy and active at home and during the holidays.

Turn off the TV or computer and get active

  • Set a limit on the amount of time children watch television or spend on the computer. Two hours a day is the maximum. Too much screen time limits physical activity.

  • On the weekend, live life instead of watching it on TV. Find a new place to hike, bike or run. When you hear “I’m bored” – think of something active to do.

  • During the winter months, avoid allowing children to watch too much TV or play video games. Encourage active play, which builds social, mental and physical motor skills.

In the following weeks we will be asking for ‘Expression of Interest’ from parents who wish to volunteer their time and skills to help coach various gala day teams: Soccer, Touch Football, Basketball and League Tag.  Please keep an eye out for upcoming correspondence.

?? NOTES FROM THE MUSIC ROOM ??

This semester (Terms 1 and 2) all students from years 1-6 will be learning “Bucket Drumming”. We will be learning to read and follow traditional music notation and play drumming patterns on Bucket Drums.

We have started our learning in music lessons but I am on the hunt for 20 litre buckets (without lids is fine). The buckets needed are usually used in food supplies, tiling, painting etc. I have asked around at a few bakery’s however their supplies are now sent in paper bags, not plastic buckets. If we have any members of our learning community who may have access to buckets of this sort and may be able to donate a couple for the music room, the students and myself would be very grateful.

Please contact Mrs Cauchi at school if you can help. Thank you.
