Principal's Welcome

It has been wonderful to see how settled and excited our students have been returning to school in 2023. I would like to welcome our new families and welcome back to the rest of the school community. School uniforms look spectacular, and boys and girls are wearing them with such pride. At break times it is great to see our students all wearing the school uniform hats.

Everything went smoothly for us yesterday at the swimming carnival. Congratulations to everyone who went. Your efforts, team spirit  and behaviour was complimented by members of the public. Thank you to Mrs Bronish and Miss Carney for their organisation.

Internal school times have been changed this year to support teaching and learning sessions. Students and staff were surveyed and the students valued the three breaks in a school day. DoE requirements are for 75 mins of non class time for students and 4 hours and 45 minutes of face to face learning. Starting and finishing times do not change.
Times are
8.55-10.55 1st Learning Session
10.55-11.20 Morning Recess
11.20-12.20 2nd Learning Session
12.20-12.45 Lunch
12.45-1.45 3rd Learning Session
1.45-2.10 Afternoon Recess
2.10-2.55 4th Learning Session
Keep your eye out for our updated PBL Recognition System (Merit Awards, Echoes etc). This will be communicated to students and parents next week.

Today we had some of our new signage installed. We still have more to come shortly. See if you can spot them around the school.

Our newsletter will be published every even week this year with updates from all our stages.

It was exciting to see the faces of the students when they saw the progress of the Sensory Playground. It looks a lot different than when we left in 2022. Student were impressed when they realised that the P&C’s generous contribution to the project was because of the P&C fundraising efforts throughout 2022.

Watch our playground as there is more to come…………..

Can you find these around the school?

2023 Staff

Thank you to students and parents for their understanding with the forming of our 2023 classes.  It has been frustrating for all not to have formed our classes earlier. Students leaving and new in zone students enrolling have impacted the number of classes we can resource as a school. Each student year level has a different weighted scale, with a Kindergarten student weighted higher than a Year 6 student.

For the last week we have fluctuated ,due to student numbers, between forming 13 and 14 classes.

Communication

For us to effectively work in partnership with our school community and parents, it is important that we have clear lines of communication. If parents wish to contact a teacher or make an appointment, they can do this by calling the school office on 49581180 and the message will be passed onto the staff member, or they can send an email to the school edgeworthh-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au.
Thank you for your understanding in the matter as staff cannot give parents their full attention they deserve when teachers are with students.

School Uniform

Our students looked outstanding in our 2nd year of transiting to the new uniform. The previous school uniforms are still acceptable as our school uniform.  A reminder that our EHPS uniform includes a school hat, black school shoes or all back joggers and white socks. Students without hats will not be provided with a spare as we have given them all away. Students without hats enjoy break sessions  in the shaded Sit and Chat area with other students who choose to play in this area.

Please make sure all articles of clothing are clearly labelled with student’s names so they can be returned. Last year we donated many nameless articles of clothing that were unclaimed to charity. If you have any uniforms that your children have grown out of, we happily accept them to be recycled for other students.

Meet and Greet Wednesday 15th February

Parents and carers are invited  to meet the teachers working on your child’s stage and year group on Wednesday 15th February.

At each session we will introduce the teachers working with your children and key information relevant for that stage.

Mrs Honeysett  who works as our Aboriginal Education Officer (AEO) will also be available to have a yarn with our parents during the afternoon.

We look forward to meeting you as we begin our home school partnership in 2023.

School Voucher program

It has been great to see many of our parents using the back-to-school voucher. It was also announced on Tuesday that The Premier’s Back to School vouchers program will be extended to include payment for school excursions. This will mean the 3 x $50 vouchers per eligible student can be used for eligible excursions up to 30 June 2023. More information about this coming soon.

Attendance Matters

Eating at school will be a different experience for your child compared with eating at home or at preschool. There are no places to keep food hot or cold. Children often sit on the grass or on benches and balance their food on their knees. They will also need to be able to open everything their food is wrapped in and they won’t want to spend so much time eating that they miss out on playing.
