Letter from the Principal

Tuesday August 25th 2020

Dear Families

Our website has become an important resource where we can reach out to both our current school community and our broader community. We are continuing to add content to improve what we can offer. Our latest edition to the website is our UpSchool Platform. As a school we see the importance of extending education beyond the classroom. We believe that one of the foundations of strong communities with healthy people (both mind and body) is access to education. UpSchool is an online resource we invite you to explore, immerse in and be inspired by. This resource is our way of sharing positive and inspiring messages that we feel will have a direct and positive impact on our community.

I encourage you to visit our website -

It would be great to have feedback on whether you found this resource helpful.

Champions of our School

In the Arts

Congratulations to Samuel O who graduated from Grade 4 Piano. This is an amazing achievement that requires great discipline and dedication to attain the skills necessary to become such an accomplished pianist. Well done Samuel. Hearing you play piano is very special and we appreciate you sharing your gifts as a musician with us.

We are very proud of you and recognise that this achievement has come about through many hours of practice.

In Sport

Congratulations to Ben Cavarra, a former student of St John the Baptist and son to our wonderful Ange Cavarra and her husband Sam. As you know Ben debuted for the Bulldogs earlier in the season. After his debut game the AFL was shut down due to our escalating numbers in Victoria of COVID-19. Ben then had an injury which further sidelined him once the season resumed. In true Ben style he put his head down, trained hard and showed incredible determination and self belief that he would be selected to play. Ben has played the last two games for the Bulldogs. He has scored goals in every AFL game he has played, placed great forward pressure on the opposition and displayed great sportsmanship and teamwork. Ben is a great example to our community of what it really means to pursue your passion with persistence and grit and to continue to believe in yourself.

Prayers from Year 3/4 Students

Our 3/4 children were invited to write a prayer of thanks for something in the world that they find amazing.

School Fees

School fee statements will be sent out this week. Payment for Term 3 is now due as well as any other outstanding fees for 2020.

If families are facing financial hardship please contact me via phone (03) 98784823 or email cmason@sjferntreegully.catholic.edu.au to discuss if you may be eligible for fee concessions. We understand that this is an extraordinary year and are happy to support families where possible. It is important that we have the conversation.
