St Mary's Bulletin

Term 4 - Week 9 (9 December, 2022)

Dear St Mary's School Community

Advent Liturgy

We began our final week at school with an Advent Liturgy which was led by the staff.  We were reminded that Advent is a time of preparation and anticipation for the coming of Jesus.

PK Concert

It was wonderful to see so many of our Pre-Kindy families at school on Monday for the Pre-Kindy concert – the children sang two songs (with actions) for their families before ‘graduating’ and then enjoying a celebration together.  Thank you to Mrs Millar and Mrs Smith for preparing the students so well.

Graduation Mass

Thank you to Mrs Riethmuller and Mrs O’Malley for preparing such a meaningful Graduation Mass for our Year Six students on Wednesday evening.  Thank you also to Fr Andrew for leading us in the Mass.  I wish the graduating class of 2022 all the very best for their secondary school journey and for the future.  I hope that what they have learnt during their time at St Mary’s will hold them in good stead.

Canteen 2023

The Canteen Committee has been very busy liaising with local food providers in regard to being able to provide a lunch service for our students in the new school year.  The committee had a set of criteria that each provider had to be able to meet.  It gives me pleasure to advise you that Wild Poppy Café will be the lunch service provider for St Mary’s School in 2023.  This new food service process will be regularly reviewed to ensure that both parties are content with the arrangements in place.  Further information, including menus, ordering details, etc will be provided at the start of next year.  Given that Week One, Term One 2023 will be a short week for students, it is envisaged that this new service will commence in Week Two.  I would like to once again thank the hard work, input and robust decision making of the Canteen Committee.

Term Planners

Please find attached the 2023 Term Planners for your information.  While we don’t expect there to be many changes or additions – the unexpected does occasionally occur in schools – any changes to dates will be communicated through the usual channels. Thank You and Farewell

As the 2022 school year draws to a close, there are a number of people who I would like to thank for making this year a good one.

Firstly, to the School Advisory Council for all their support in ensuring that our school stays financially viable.  A particular thanks to Dave O’Neill (SAC Chair), Roxanne Webb (Treasurer) and Marie Bartlett (Secretary).

Secondly, to the P&F, under the leadership of their president Chesney Maloney who was ably assisted by Asha Carr, Meg Gethin and Lola Okoewo.

I wish to thank Fr Andrew for everything that he brings to our school, in particular, his faith and spiritual leadership, which is highly valued by our community.

At St Mary’s every child is valued and all the staff go out of their way to create classroom environments that welcoming, safe and nurturing for your children whilst also providing many challenging and stimulating learning experiences for them.  Thank you to all the staff for their tremendous and ongoing commitment throughout the year.  A particular thanks to Mrs Pauline Riethmuller, Mrs Zoe O’Malley, Mrs Lorraine Ryan, Ms Jasmin Holmes and Mrs Jo Lane for all they do behind the scenes to make the school run smoothly.

We wish Mrs Bec Millar, Mrs Sonya McCormack, Miss Lucy Lynch, Mrs Judy Jefferys and Mrs Damiana Demarte all the very best for their new adventures and thank them for their contributions to our school during their time here.  We wish Mrs Millington another restful year of leave.

Last but not least, a big thank you goes to our wonderful students.  I would like to thank for being such wonderful children who always give of their best and are a pleasure to be around every day.

This will be my final correspondence as principal of St Mary’s School.  While I am sad to be leaving, I am very much looking forward to being present to my family and friends.  I have enjoyed my time at St Mary’s and the last five years have been ones of steep learning and personal and professional growth.  It has been an honour to serve the St Mary’s community and I will look back on my time here fondly.

I wish you all a happy and holy Christmas with your loved ones and a relaxing and enjoyable school holidays.

God Bless and have a lovely weekend with your families.

Ms Adriana Coniglio

Principal
