Presentation Assemblies

Last week we held our Presentation Assemblies to acknowledge the achievements of our students in all aspects of school life. Congratulations to all our award winners. Thank you to Mrs Jeff and the office staff for all their work in organising these celebrations of learning and to the teachers for preparing the students for their items. Thank you also to all our parents who were able to attend.

At the Stage 2 and Stage 3 assembly our 2019 Student Leadership Team was announced.

Congratulations to:

Amber Saxby and Yash Dongre - Captains

Shenelle Lockubalasuriya and Hyrum Afualo - Vice Captains

Jenny Luo, Addison Mitchell, Daniel Xu and Gurman Sandhu - Prefects

I am certain these students will do a wonderful job in representing our school. Thank you to our outgoing Student Leadership Team for the outstanding job they have done this year. Best wishes to our students and families that are leaving us next year especially our Year 6 cohort going into high school. I am sure you will all do well in high school.

As I outlined in my presentation assembly speech, the school continues to grow and we have now reached our 18th class. With growth comes numerous changes to structures, organisation and practices. We will be continuing with our Stage based classes however where those Stages have been traditionally housed will change next year.

This year the school has been involved as a supplementary school in the Early Action for Success Program (EAfS) which focuses on the professional learning of teachers to enhance student learning outcomes. As part of the program teachers were involved in the Spirals of Inquiry and Building Numeracy Leadership. These will be expanded to include all Stages next year.

This year we are farewelling a number of our staff members. Mrs Kilgour has decided to go on extended leave next year with the intent of retiring in the near future. In 2019 Mrs Kilgour will celebrate 40 years in the teaching profession which is a wonderful milestone to achieve.

I would like to thank her for her work and care of the students at Kingswood Public School and acknowledge her commitment and dedication to her students in the schools she has taught in and to public education.

Thank you to Mrs Johnston for her work with her Stage 1 class this year. Mrs Johnston will be leaving us to work at Faulconbridge Public School next year.

Thank you to Mrs Karavias who has been working in our office for a number of years in a part time capacity. Mrs Karavias leaves us to work at James Erskine Public School in a full time position in 2019.

Thank you to Mr Birrell who has been our School Counsellor for the last couple of years. He will be working in different schools within this region next year. Lisa Crooke and Samantha Sach will be replacing him next year.

Congratulations to Mrs Hall who has been appointed as an Assistant Principal at our school through the merit selection process. Two new teachers will be appointed to the school next year.

Congratulations to Ms Langerak whose son Jarvi Perkins was born on Thursday 6 December. Both Mum and bub are doing well.

Year 6 Farewell

On Monday 10 December we held our Year 6 Farewell at Penrith Golf Club. The children had a wonderful night. Thank you to Mrs Jeff, the Stage 3 teachers and staff for their organisation of this night and to all the parents, family and friends who attended the Graduation Ceremony at the end of the night. Thank you also to Mrs Clarke who made the graduation cakes. We wish our Year 6 students all the very best for the future.
