Congratulations to Room 20 for their assembly! The messaging around resilience, empathy and a positive inner voice was certainly an important one. I was impressed by the students’ perseverance and adaptability to technical difficulties; it was great to see the resilience demonstrated, there and then, from our Year 5s.
It has been a very busy couple of weeks at school. A big well done to our Year 3 and 5 students who have completed NAPLAN online for 2023. We look forward to accessing and sharing the results later in the year.
Mr Chappelow ran a very successful Faction Swimming Carnival for our Year 3-6 students with details included below. I was extremely proud of how our students represented Newman Primary School and the sportsmanship displayed by all.
We celebrated National Ride to School Day on 24 March with many students participating in a fun obstacle course before school. Whilst it is a message I often give; I will continue to mention the importance of bike and scooter safety. Too many of our students continue to arrive at school on scooters and bikes without helmets and ride in our front car park before school opens. Helmets are such a simple but potentially life-saving piece of safety gear; I hope you will join me in reinforcing this message.
As well as these events, we have had Harmony Day activities in classrooms, morning Tai Chi with Meg Languages, Eagles, Rick the Rock, visit and clinics, Shire talks re the upcoming eclipse and Rainbow Day for Autism. Our staff and students have embraced these events and we hope the students enjoy all these opportunities.
A friendly reminder to all families that children should not arrive at school before 7.45am in the morning. From 7.45am, we provide supervision in the undercover area before students move to classes at 8am. In our ECE area, supervision is provided by parents until drop off to the classroom doors at 8am. We thank you for your support.
