In the coming weeks our school will be conducting a lockdown and evacuation drill. Please do not be alarmed if you hear our drills in the community.
I have been advised that the QLD government will be installing speed cameras in all school zones in the coming months which will be active during the assigned pick up and drop off times on the sign. Please be aware of this as you travel around school zones.
This week we begin planning around 2023 classes and with fluctuating numbers that impact our structures, I will not be in a position to publicise details of 2023 until closer to the end of the term.
Our staff have a great deal of knowledge of all of our students, and spend a great deal of time placing students with the right teacher, balancing academic and social needs, as well as considering any requirements for students with disabilities and other diverse learning needs. Composite classes that may be formed are not streamed and will have a diverse mix of all learners. Our teachers are trained to teach across all year levels. I have a great deal of confidence in all of my teachers, and know that all parents and students should be extremely comfortable knowing we have such a dedicated and capable group of teachers at our school. I ask that you trust that we are able to make these decisions and that your students will be well catered for at our school.
Class lists will be available for all parents from Monday January 16th via the front office. We then will have an open morning in the January Pupil Free Day week for parents and students to meet their new teacher. This will be clearly advertised at the end of the school year. There will be a number of special circumstances that are considered for students with disability in regard to knowing which teacher your child will have. If your family is applicable, our HOSES Nicole Inder, will be in touch before the end of the term.
I am happy to receive requests for placement of children relating to social or family needs (i.e. not being in the same class as family members or strong friendships that can actually hamper learning) but will not be considering any requests by parents for a certain teacher. Please note, that while we will seriously consider your requests in this area we may not be able to honour everyone’s wishes. Please submit these requests in writing to the front office no later than Thursday 10th November. Requests after this date will not influence decision making.
Class structures will be released in communication with parents in Week 10 which will include the teachers on those classes, however, are subject to change as we adjust to fluctuating enrolments over the Christmas holidays.
If you know you are leaving our school at the end of the year, we appreciate you notifying the office as soon as possible. Equally, if you know of families that would like to enrol with us, please encourage them to make contact at their earliest convenience.
Our end of year concert is scheduled for Thursday 1st December and will be held at the Beaudesert State High School Hall. At our end of year concert, each year level will perform their selected Christmas carol alongside other school performances. The P&C will release further information to our community in the coming weeks. A reminder that all parents are very welcome to attend our P&C meetings. Our next meeting is organised for Tuesday 8th November from 6:00pm in R Block accessed via Eaglesfield Street. We hope to see you there.
Thank you to our amazing P&C members who organised a lunch break Halloween disco for all year levels this week. The students absolutely loved it!
As we near the end of the year our Business Manager, Sandy Currie, is contacting families to ensure all debts are paid for 2022. Please note, families with bad debts will not be eligible for future incursions and excursions until the amount is paid in full. Statements were sent home with the final payment due 17th November.
Due to unforeseen circumstances on Wednesday 26th October, school swimming was cancelled. All students who were unable to attend swimming will have their $3.50 credited to their account to be used in a future payment.
As previously communicated via our PBL team, this year our school replaced our positive school reward systems with Beauy Bucks. With the same foundation as our previous Vivo system, teachers allocate Beauy Bucks to students throughout the year as they aspire to reach Bronze, Silver, Gold and Gold pin levels. Our teachers are allocated 400-450 points each week, depending on class numbers. Please see below table for further information. Students have until the beginning of Week 10 to achieve the gold pin level. If you have any questions, please contact your classroom teacher or our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) teacher, Sarah Smith via the front office.
