Mobile phones at Spring Farm Public School

In this day and age our mobile phones have become a necessity rather than a luxury. For students, our school’s policy states that they are able to bring their mobile phones or Smart watches to school to use before and or after school. During school hours (8:30am to 3pm) communication devices are to be left in student’s bags and at their own risk. Students who need to communicate to parents and carers during school hours are required to arrange this with their class teacher; who will arrange for the school office to make contact.

Likewise, I ask all parents and carers to contact the school office if they need to contact their child rather than call them directly on their communication devices. Similarly, a reminder to all parents, carers and visitors about appropriate use of mobile phones on school grounds, especially talking on the phones at assemblies or when the school is singing the national anthem.

Please view https://springfarm-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/about-our-school/rules-and-policies.html for more information.

Teachers and staff also use their communication devices frequently to assist them in their day. These may include: marking their class roles, giving dojo points, contacting staff, taking class photos or utilising the devices as a learning journal to upload onto the school facebook or seesaw programs. Throughout the day and in the their classes, teachers and staff use their mobile phones to collect various data in which the school collates and analyses to assist in the implementation of various programs. For example, the Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) team require regular and instant data from all teachers in order for the committee to analyse and modify practices or set new directions.

Lateness!

Thank you for to the families that have been making an effort to be at school on time. The office is still inundated with late students. Please continue to establish a good routine the night before and in the morning so that your child or children can get to school on time.

Similarly, setting up a good routine to regularly attend school, provides the necessary life skills for your child or children to meet future deadlines and work on the skills of time management. If you have concerns and difficulties with your child’s attendance, please do not hesitate to see the school or School Counsellor for advice and assistance. If your child arrives late, from 8:55am onwards; they are required to get a late pass from the school office, before going to their lines or classroom.
