Principal's Report

Welcome to Week 6! This week we celebrate Book Week. The theme of Book Week this year is “Dreaming with our eyes open…”. Book Week promotes the joy of reading. On Tuesday, many of our students and staff came to school dressed as their favorite book character which was fabulous!

Reading is such an important life skill. I would like to encourage all our students to read as much as possible. Parents and carers, you play an important role in developing this love of reading to your children. Read to your children as much as possible and model reading behaviour so that they can see it is important to read.

Thank you to our wonderful Year 6 group who attended camp at Yarramundi, you were all a great credit to our school and it looks like you all had a fantastic time creating great memories.

Camps and extra curricular activities don't happen without the many hours of preparation and planning from our very dedicated teachers. A huge thank to Mrs Taylor who planned and organised our camp and Mr Hazel, Miss Thomas, Mr Hughes and Mrs Geerin who accompanied our students. Please enjoy the photo montage below of some of the fun at camp.

Thank you to all our parents/carers, families and friends that were part of our Silent Auction. $1952 was raised which is a fantastic amount! Well done to our students and teachers for the fabulous efforts with each classes’ artwork. Funds raised will go towards the purchase of technology for students.

A huge thank you also to our SRC and all the families and staff who contributed to our Adopt A Koala fundraiser which raised $526.

We received a beautiful thank you from Woodburn Public School thanking us for supporting them after their school was flooded earlier this year through our mufti day and a crazy hair fundraisers.

Staff News

Mrs Ansted commenced Maternity Leave yesterday. Miss Elyse Anderson will be S1A’s teacher for the rest of this year. We wish Mrs Ansted and her husband all the very best for the birth of their baby.

New Equity Placement Model for Opportunity Classes and Selective High Schools

The Department of Education is putting in place a new Equity Placement Model for Opportunity Classes and Selective High Schools.

The Equity Placement Model helps make access to opportunity classes and selective high schools fairer for the following under-represented groups:

·         Students from low socio-educational advantage backgrounds

·         Aboriginal students

·         Students from rural and remote locations

·         Students with disability

Students who sit for the Opportunity Class and Selective High School placement tests will now receive a Performance Report that shows how they performed compared to all students who completed the tests.

Please refer to the attached facts sheets and click on the video links below for further information.

Stage 1 Excursion

Please remember that stage one excursion is coming up soon. Parents and carers need to have submitted the signed permission note and made the payment by Wednesday 24 August 2022.

This is an important aspect of student learning and builds on students connection to new concepts being taught in class.

We look forward to a day filled with lots of learning.

Order forms are to be placed in the money slot at the front office before 9am.
