Principal's Report

This week we celebrated our first ever Multicultural Concert, and what a delight it was! Miss Lutton and Mr Hughes have worked extremely hard over the past term to bring their vision to life. I would like to thank them for the hours and hours of work they have dedicated to this wonderful event. Our performers were outstanding and were so entertaining to watch. It was obvious just how much time and dedication the performers gave to ensure each performance was of the highest standard. I would also like to thank our local high schools for sharing the amazing talents of their students with us and the community. Our students have experienced many of the cultures that make up the Kingswood Public School community and have truly benefited from the sharing of the diversity of the performing arts. A few photos and small video clips are included below however Miss Lutton and Mr Hughes  will be working on a compilation of the day to share next term especially for those who were unable to attend.

A wonderful mural is taking shape at the car park end of G Block building thanks to our fantastic artist Miss Clayton and her wonderful team of helpers. More details will be shared next term but we have included a progress picture. Thank you to Bunnings North Penrith who have kindly donated all the paint - at significant cost. We really appreciate the help and support of local businesses like Bunnings North Penrith and hope our families will support businesses who support our school like this.

The most important factor in a students success at school, is being at school, each day and on time. The number of students arriving at school late each day has been increasing and is causing concern. Attendance data is monitored by the school and the Home School Liaison Officer (HSLO), when a students attendance reaches a concerning level, the HSLO will become involved. Next term I will be doing an ‘Attendance Blitz’ and will be monitoring the late arrival of students. Please remember that school starts at 9am. By law any student who arrives after 9am is deemed late, even if it is just by a minute or two. Between Wednesday of Week 9 and Wednesday of Week 10 there were 145 late sign ins with over 2000 minutes of learning lost. I would like to see this number drop significantly next term.

I would like to wish everyone a very happy and safe holiday break and look forward to seeing refreshed faces back for the beginning of Term 4. If you are looking for something fun to do over the break
www.youtube.com/user/NewSouthWalesHealth/videos has some great ideas.

Please note that there is NO Staff Development Day at the beginning of Term 4. The first day back for students is Monday 14 October.

The NSW Government is allocating $120 million by 2021 to expand access to affordable and convenient before and after school care for children attending public primary schools. From July to December 2019, you can share your needs on before and after school care to help us better plan, deliver and manage services across NSW.  Note: Completing the online form will not allocate your child a place in a before or after school care service.
